Just wanted to share my oldest sons first big game animal! He’s a stone cold killer with his shotgun and killed both waterfowl and small game with his bow but this was his first deer tag. It was also taken with a rifle he worked and paid for himself!

Now that is a trophy in my book. His first deer with a weapon he earned himself. Congrats.
Any more details? What made him want to deer hunt? How did sighting in go? Where was he hunting? Were you beside him when he took the shot? How did his first field dressing go? Has he got to eat any yet? Does he want to hunt again?
I was there with a super awesome young man this year when he got his first ever deer and with a bow. I got him into bowhunting last year. Never another first. It was truly a special day.

Outstanding, congrats to your son on the first of many I'm sure! That's a proud dad moment.
I was able to be sitting with my son when he killed his first 2 deer. It's one of my best hunting memories.

Brought back an old memory thanks. I to worked and bought my first rifle as well. I bought mine from the local horse trader, I was scared to death trying to figure out how to horse trade for my first rifle. Congrats to you and your son.

Congrats!! Taking your kids hunting is the most rewarding thing to do in the outdoors. I wouldn't trade the time I have spent hunting with my daughters for anything.

Ks he’s not new to hunting or shooting just deer hunting. He was shooting dime groups at 100 before the hunt and shot her at about 90 yards we snuck up on her bedded in yesterday’s big wind storm here in eastern Colorado on a little piece of public river bottom near our house. I was right next to him when he took the shot and the first thing he said after the shot was dad I think I missed her. She made it 31 yards after the shot missing the top off her heart.
