I knew it was going to be a chilly week but my hell @ 1500 hours/3pm geezzzzz
Cumfy, cozzy stand-alone cabin.
Nice nighttime lighting for those walks into town a block or two away.
A pinch pricier than Bubbas BBQ but tasty indeed
Ots of elk down on the NER (National Elk Refuge) this year, better than in the past with NO snow those years.
All kinda Bulls
Almost all the elk are pushed west almost along the 89 hywy after morning hunters start shooting Cow elk permission slips.
Very cool. Never been there myself but hope to someday.
The Buff herds are smart and stay just outside the Legal hunting area's.
?First time I have seen big Bull Buff in the bed of a truck coming out of the Cache Creek road/area was this year, a pinch south of the NER
I couldn't get a pic though, a vehicle in front of me with a full size camper on it. They are already talking about shutting down the Buff early.
I can't believe it's been a year since I did last years JH thread but this year I only saw 2 Moose compared to last year and all those 'uge Bull Moose
I tried something a pinch different this year while Digi-Scoping ( Phone Skope) with angled borders...... I'm still out on if I like it
The Sheep were starting to migrate down and I always enjoy getting digi pix of them
100's of elk pushed to the west/out of the legal harvest unit boundary of the NER Muzzy or Bow only South end.

That wraps up this early AM pix
Ya know how it is the first day or 2 back home, laundry, groceries, ect. Oh, the life of a Bachelor!
More later on ~~ Thanks for taking the time to view All,

Thanks for taking us along Sir. Now I want yo go to JH again.
Cool thanks for sharing its been a long time since I visited JH is the Mangy Moose still there and a old friend of mine actually bought the million dollar bar back in the day take care and stay safe Lewis
Robb some of those places look familiar. Looks like you had a fun trip!
Great pics Robb. And I see you are picking up some bachelor tricks from Charlie on the TV. LOL!
Robb, thanks for sharing.
Robb looks like a fun trip! I might not of recognized you with the goatee if it wasn't for the turtleneck. ;)
Thanks Robb! Take care and enjoy!
Robb, thanks for taking us along on your trip. I haven't been in Jackson Hole since a spring break skiing trip in college back in the early 80's.
Have you ever been to the Mangy Moose Restaurant up in that neck of the woods? I recall having some great meals and times in that place.
Matt
Looks like another awesome trip!
I thought you were Billy Gibbons at first! Thanks for sharing, Robb!
Miss living there... special place that hole. Glad you enjoyed and stayed thawed.
I have a cousin that lives there and she loves it. She used to live close to me but visited the area every year to take pictures of the animals, especially the big bears. Her husband died so she bought a house and some land out there and loves it.
Robb, you don't look as cold as I thought you should in that weather. What is your secret? I enjoyed seeing the animals. Those bulls look to be in good shape, Bob
Thanks for the kind words
I haven't been in the Mangy Moose in years---sorry.
We all have been driving down the road along those wildlife 8ft high fences to keep them off the highway and every so many yards apart, they have those big high mounds of dirt and a break in the fencing.
I've seen a few deer standing on them over the years, but I've never actually witnessed any wildlife actually going over them until this trip.
The big 6x bull hesitated but jump down the 6-7 feet.... the Spike following him didn't fare so well
The Spike busted his azz and rolled over!
Kinda kool camper although she said it was for a smaller bed/size truck, but she couldn't pass up on the price
It was easy to tell if the Buff had crossed into the NER as along this road every pull out of some type of parking option had trucks with Horse Trailers heading in and the west side parking along 89 hywy was packed with walk in hunters.
If the Buff hadn't crossed over night then there wasn't hardly any trucks.
Access was tough going to get onto the National Forest. Most every access including the loop route via Antelope Flats Road had snowplow closure blocking.
If memory serves me ya can't have a weapon hiking to the FS ground via the Park ground so I don't think ya can even access the FS ground?
This was pretty kool to witness firsthand
this 'uge Golden Eagle was buzzing this herd of Sheep to try and get them to scatter but they just bunched up and didn't go over the cliff/crags or separate so the Eagle could get 1 of the lambs.
First time I've ever digi scope Video.
This younger Ram had other things on his mind than a Golden Eagle!
Let me wrap it up for this early AM with a couple of my FAV Bull Elk pix in the snowstorm.
My digi scope goes to 80x but I had to keep it on 20x and just zoom a pinch with my iPhone, the heavy snow and all, I'm still content
These 2 bull kept to themselves and the 1 is a dandy Non-Typical!
Thanks for taking the time to view All.
Just simply beautiful when the snow and clouds lifted but my hell it as cold every day.
I'll do some this-n-that in the morning as I want to get my hike in before the snowstorm hits here at home!!
Good luck, Robb
My JP Gladiator is like 'Damn Dude, let's go back to Az.!'
My JP Gladiator is like 'Damn Dude, let's go back to Az.!'
Great pics Robb.
Keep em coming!
Livin’ the dream you are. I haven’t been in the Mangy Moose lately either. But I usually stop in Bubba’s to eat and have a Teton Amber or Moose Drool.
That one bull sure is a dandy. I’d like to ask a bull like that a few questions. Starting with where the hell do bulls like you go during hunting season! Safe travels brother!
Great report Robb, thanks!
Hey Robb, great photos & adventure!
ElkNut
Thanks for sharing. Awesome photos. I have to do a winter trip there. Think it was August only time ai went thru.
Very cool, Robb. Thanks for sharing with us!
You Are Welcome--------> Thanks
Some quicky pix
I like taking 2 pairs of boots so I'm ready for just about any weather and with my ice grabbers on the bottom
Yes I still use Mink Oil

My All time FAV elk herd mounts.
Whenever I see this Double Dropper Bull, I think of our own Ron N. for some reason?
I'll answer a few of the Rustic Inn Lodge questions this way instead of individually.
Yes, they have an onsite Bar, Wine Cellar and a Buffet type meals inside the Lodge.
I couldn't resist buying this lil bit of Swag! Haha

That wraps this year's JH trip up.
Thanks again for taking the time to view All.
#LovinLife,
Robb
Looks great, but a tad chilly! Thanks for sharing, Robb!
Thanks for bringing us along Robb!! I need to get out there in the winter to see the life in the NER. I've only been there in the summer when nothing is there.
Thank you very entertaining good luck Lewis
I'm pretty sure forest access closes in Dec along the NER. Some areas are open until Dec 15. Looks very promising for the bison hunters this year, also ominous for us in Wyoming as it tells me they know deep snow is coming. They haven't moved onto the NER early enough last 2 years to get a decent cow harvest. Hope they stack 'em up this week and next !
The gas prices ran from $4.08 in south JH to $4.23 @ the Flat Creek '66' station on the north end of JH.
Diesel like $5.69 and UP.
Here is that Grizz I've been talking with some of y'all about.
Good luck, Robb
Good stuff Robb, thanks for sharing!
Anymore this n that’s pix?
Pretty much posted the better ones already, thanks for axing though.
Thanks D-D
Good luck, Robb
Hey Robb, there is a great wild life art museum just out of town. Have you had a chance to explore that.? Paul
I really enjoy the Museum Paul.
Although I usually have had some form of camo clothing or hat on-----> I get a few down the nose looks! haha
Good luck, Robb
I'm running a pinch behind on getting my Pic Frame finished but it's done and hung now.
I just luv this Elk Refuge Professional picture so I bought it and framed it and hung it.
Good luck, Robb
This pic is one my wife at the time took of me in the NER hunting my Cow Buff a few years back.
I'm hunting along the dam.
Done and hung on my Southwestern Themed wall
Good luck, Robb
