I don't think he was a yearling. I don't think he has shed/that is not new growth.

Antlered doe?
Buck with both beams broken off right above the bases, then rubbed and stained funny colors?

He was running with this guy. Body size was similar. So definitely not a doe. He was not 1.5 years either.

Definately strange….and looks like a whitetail…? Odd to be hanging with a muley and running with one of them???

Yearlings are between 1 year old and 2 two years old, but that buck with the small face, brownish color and short ears looks like a button whitetail to me.... Would be nice to see him beside that muley for size reference... Got any more pix?

John, are these more refuge deer? If so, what are your thoughts on the overall health of that herd? I ask because some of the deer in your past pics haven't looked real healthy to me. They've seemed kinda scraggly and lacking body weight, even during some of your early season picture sessions. Have you noticed that, or is it just me?

Maybe a whitetail muley cross with screwed up antlers.

Remember this deer from back in June of 22'. I don't think it is same deer. But this was in the beginning of the antler cycle. Very similar.

Wow, I don't think I've every seen a mulie that looked that mangy. Poor guy.

The last pic...looks like his tail is mostly gone and no nuts? Maybe coyotes got him and thats why he looks bad? Or mange?

Man, that looks terrible.
No doubt if it was cold and snow covered, he prolly would have died by now.
You're always finding something unique John,
