Legally shipping/mailing bear spray?

If I purchase a can of bear spray in Alaska, is there a legal way to ship or mail it home at the end of the trip? After some studying, I haven't figured out anything other than leaving it behind. Yet, I can purchase same and have it sent to me by, say, Cabelas. Anyone figure this out? Thanks

It has to be shipped via ground and the vast majority of packages leaving here leave via air. The cost of shipping it home would likely exceed the cost of a new can once back home.
Check with your pilot if you are flying into the field as many literally have a milk crate full of them being passed along from hunter to hunter that had the same issue.
