Was down there a few years ago, the outfitter had some huge mounts. 450 lbs, 600 pounds.

That’s pretty big. This one was 829 pounds. Taken in Morris county N.J. Jersey hadn’t had a bear hunt in 30 years. When they open the bear hunt you have some opportunity for some bruisers.

Here is Eva and Jim Shockeys bears from NC at my taxidermist shop in Michigan. Freakish large due to not hibernating and available feed. The skulls didn’t match the weight though.

My understanding from guys that hound hunt bears is that the eastern NC bears are bigger and meaner than the ones in the mountains.

I fish about 20 miles away from New Bern. I love going out early in the morning and watching the huge bears going back to their beds. I have permission to hunt this year the field that I had been watching them in. I am not sure I could afford a mount tho so I am weighing my options on what to do.
