I see the word “Recommended” a lot in there. When will we know if it’s actually going in affect?

They very rarely change from the proposals.

With 4,500 Cap on Multi Season Spike tags that can be used in most every LE Bull unit and the increase in LE Bull tags, ya better draw very soon! As the score quality is going to drop.

That’s going to really shake things up. Massive resident increases without all the vitriol of the recent Wyoming changes.

Will equate to only a tag or two for non resident though…..

Those mid season hunts might get crazy with that many people but they’ll still be way fun.

I'm sharing my 20 General Deer points with a Family of 3, adults, so we are applying as a Group this wknd.

Heads-Up, I've had some questions about the Group Applicant change.

Ya don't get a Group applicant number until after 1 of your Group applies and then gets the Confirmation email.

That email has the Group application number.

The other Group applicants must log in and apply Join Group and then insert the Group Application Number. Make sure it is Exactly with high/low case sensitive and a - or / too.

Each applicant pays separately.

Good luck, Robb

They added more hunts. Which equates to more tags.

Limited entry archery hunts have been extended by four days and the early rifle hunt cut by 4 days and starts 4 days later and is now only 5 days. The early rifle hunt was 80% successful in 3 days. So 5 days is plenty long for a rifle hunt.

They are lowering the age class objectives in the best units from 7.5 year old bulls to 6.5. this will lower quality a very small amount. Researchers say 85-90% of antler growth in elk happens by age 6. After 6 years antler growth is more dependent on habitat than age. The tag numbers were not changed for the 5.5 year age class.

Most people shoot a higher scoring bull that was not near the age objective of that unit anyway. So Utah lowered age objective is adjusting to what people were happy killing with their high point tag.

Still a great state to hunt elk !!

With so very few tags it is “almost” not worth it. Almost being key word.
