My dad asked me to put some of my clips together from my longbow hunt this morning and share them here. It was so cool to finally be able to take my first turkey with a longbow. In the last three years of trying to accomplish this feat I learned a couple of things, one being that patience is the deadliest weapon in a longbow hunters arsenal. Two being that you can never set the decoys too close to the blind! It is safe to say I am hooked on hunting turkeys with the osage flatbow now!

sjj, this bow is 64# at 27"... I suppose the bows real name is the Appalachian Flatbow, and "Appalachian Archery" is written on the inside of the top limb. My dad is in the process of collecting a large number of traditional bows and this was one that he bought on eBay years ago, and he then gifted it to me when I was first getting into traditional archery.

Nicely done, the hunt and camera.
My son is still waiting to get his first with a recurve. Has 3 nice toms under his belt with shotgun... One at about 10 yards, so we know it can be done at close range..

Absolutely awesome. Great video young man. That Appalachain longbow was made by Dave Guthrie from West Va..great bows. Turkey with a longbow is quiet the challenge.

4nolz@work The camera that I had setup by the decoy is a GoPro Hero 10 Black and I just set it up on a small tripod and cleared a little bit of the alfalfa out of the way so it had a clear view. I can connect my phone to the camera through bluetooth and keep it powered off until something interesting happens, to extend battery life. Once I saw the Tom coming in, I powered it on and started recording, all from inside the blind.

Just got a call from Blaine that after grinding it out day after day, he was able to arrow another tom with his longbow. He says the footage on this hunt may be better than the last! Looking forward to seeing it.
