Worst mount Ever!!!
Whitetail Deer

I saw this on FB and thought it may be a fraud. It’s real. Unfortunately.
OMG! The poster boy(buck) for ANTI-hunting! : (
Who the h*** thought THAT was a GOOD idea???!!!
I just looked at it closer...................must be a RAGE(broadhead) HATER!
I want to punch that idiot in the face.
Nothing like a mount to let your friends and family know your a nut case. That taxidermist should have refused to do it. That's just sick.
I think that’s the “void” form in the McKenzie catalog…
You’re correct. No way that rage would have punched through….. just bad news for hunters.
FFS, that's terrible all the way around.
I'm with Scrappy, faces need punched.
Always had Rage punch through and never lost a buck to one. Painted blood trails all the way up tall bluestem grass and dead in 50 yards. Tasteless mount though. Saw it earlier today and decided some idiot Redneck probably thought it was cool.
I’m with LBshooter.................in fact, I would find out who that taxidermist is and make sure he never gets any of my business as long as I live! : (
The mentality of a Rage shooter….
Grin
That is terrible! Also, what’s up with the partial flag that seems to cover part of the face on the one behind it?
Well, since it’s feathers on the arrow, pretty sure it’s not a Rage.
It's tacky, but not as tacky as the dipped skulls.
I wonder if there's a story to it? Maybe it had an arrow sticking out of it's shoulder when the hunter shot it?
The one in background that has an American flag cut into side and face is about as tacky from what I can see.
Disgusting! We all know the shooter is a POS for choosing that mount but the taxidermist should have said no.
It could be a rage as you can see it in the photo? Not a mechanical guy so can’t confirm.
That's freaking horrible.
Popped up on my feed as well. Reminded me of a line from Jurassic Park. Something along the lines of “They wondered if the could do it, but never stopped to think if they should.”
Can’t find enough words for my disgust.
No way it's a Rage, obviously a trad arrow. The hunter was probably shocked he finally hit one. ;-)
This may be a rare thread where everyone agrees. Tasteless for sure. For the guys that don’t see it, the broadhead is shown coming out the opposite side.
Agree it's provocative, and I'd question the wisdom of posting the pic on social media venues. But it might depict a real scenario. I've had two different bucks on my farm, poorly shot by neighbors, that continued walking around for several weeks with full arrows hanging out. More information on why this mount was done would be helpful.
I will say the antlers on that buck seem too snow-white to be hunter-killed.
Too bad this picture got posted. Cant wait see how many newspapers pick it up.
Yeah...not a fan either.
However, the selective outrage by most so far is a little curious. FB, utoob, this site, any hunting site, are absolutely filled with pictures and videos of kills, kill shots, blood spurting, etc. This taxi work is where the line is drawn? Why?
Cave drawings/paintings show kills. Everyone oohs and ahhs over 100+ yr old photos of hunters' kills. Fred Bear kill photos are posted with pride and bring good money sometimes. You can't swing a dead cat in the woods today without cameras, video equipment, and "influencers" creating the next digital pablum for the hungry hunting masses. The tasteless mount above is simply an extension of of the fodder hunters already happily consume.
EDIT: Also, historical paintings, dozens of hunting/outdoor mags, hollyweird movies, documentaries, life-size dioramas in museums...hunting kills have been shown, exhibited, and celebrated in nearly every type of media and format throughout all of recorded history.
Perfect "void" placement.
I too, find the selective outrage funny to me.
Pics of dead animals, blood, or what have you.
And this crowd talks about how disgusting this is. And how the taxidermist should’ve turned the work away. Why?
Does this mount portray hunters in a poor light?
No more so than any of the dead pics on this very site.
I have a hunch that if Pat had send best mount ever, folks would be agreeing.
Selective outrage and being told what to be outraged about is a funny phenomenon to me.
The void is between the hunter’s ears.
I see this as a wounded deer scenario, not a kill shot. The buck's nonchalant licking of the wound and the blood stain to me makes it look like a like a bad shot and the deer has survived and maybe suffered (at least for a while). I'd still like to know the who and why on this.
Like it or not, I guess I’m indifferent, to me the poor decision was to post it on social media. If he took it home and hung it on his wall happy as a clam maybe 20-30 people would ever see it and probably not one of them would have ridiculed and bashed the guy/mount/taxidermist as we have already seen in this thread.
Haters gonna hate I think is the saying….
Oh, and for those that missed it, there is clearly a rage broadhead on that arrow on the exist side…

I'm not outraged. I just think its ugly. I don't take grip and grin photos with an arrow hanging out of my animals, I certainly wouldn't want that thing displayed on the wall of my house. Pat's opinion on the mount is irrelevant to me forming my own opinion.
I do euros on the side for some extra cash. I wont turn down a job unless I know the animal was illegally taken. I think if someone wanted that mount done I wouldnt let them take pics in my shop or associate my name with it. Its just not for me but business is business. Looking at the amount of hogs and smaller deer I can only assume this was done down south.
a blinking lighted nock looks to an overlooked detail.
I’m not outraged. Just can’t imagine anyone mounting a deer like that.
I would not do that type mount. Just my shops choice.
It's fugly in my opinion. Call me soft but my least favorite part of hunting is watching something die. I have no problem killing, I guess I just have some feelings for the animal itself. In this mount all I would ever see is the animal dying...not my thing. Bash away if it makes you feel better, you won't hurt my feelings.
I don't understand a more traditional style arrow with an expandable?
Not you Pat. But one guy referred to the hunter as a POS, another a nut case, one wants to see the the taxi's business suffer, and two want to either punch him or see him punched. Again, not something I'd want to have done. But it is not any different than any of the hunting videos posted, watched, paid for by (probably) many on this thread.
Killing animals while hunting is seen as cruel and criminal by libtards. Claiming any difference between the above mount and a kill vid just seems odd to me. Wanting to punch the guy seems way worse.
I find it hard to believe that a bow hunter would have his deer mounted that way. Is it really a hunter that had that done?
Like others have mentioned = great anti bowhunting "tool".
Disgusting. Hope it's not someone's idea of a joke...
IF it really was the hunter who had it mounted, I would ask WHY? Why would you want to be reminded every day of putting a VERY poor shot on a deer and causing it to suffer? Don’t we all aim for the quickest, most humane kill possible? IF that is the actual entrance and exit wounds, I’m surprised the deer was even found. I’m thinking it was likely found days later. So in addition to the suffering, you probably also have wasted meat! What ethical Hunter would want to be reminded of that, every time they looked at the mount? I know if that happened to me, I would want to forget about it as quick as possible!
Am I the only one who thinks this might have been done by a taxidermist to enter into a competition?
I also wonder about photo-shopping. There is something weird about the flag in the background.
I'm not excusing this. I'm just thinking...
Rut Nut, I was thinking maybe the deer walked by the successful hunter with someone else's arrow in it?
The wood arrow with feathers and a mech broadhead seems odd to me too.
It's not photoshopped. It's an Arkansas taxidermy shop. See the hog on the wall. State of Arkansas shaped back plate. I've seen this mount in person. I don't know any more of the story. Not my style but a well done mount. Except for the exit wound from a Rage...we all know those don't exist!!!
Poor taste absolutely. His money absolutely something I'd do no but not my money.
Poor taste absolutely. His money absolutely something I'd do no but not my money.
There was a mount like this in central MN at a bait shop I went to. It was hideous, just like this one
That even worse than that Artist who’s Claim To fame Was showing an arrow blasting though a bear and deer. He was not that good and it took no skill to draw an arrow in flight but is was his schtict I guess. Even that pales To this thing
Horrendous and tasteless to say the least.
Yeah Catscratch.....................maybe?
The taxidermist is far more culpable than the hunter. If this is real.
Just because one can does not mean one should. The taxi enabled something that without his complicity would not have been possible.
I guess they did not want to pay extra for a flashing lighted nock.
LOL Seriously bou??? You act like He mounted a human being.
Culpable. Jeez oh mighty. It’s a mount. Yet you don’t bat an eye at actually killing something.
dude to some it's a mount to others it's an affirmation about the blood-lust of people who hunt and they remember stuff like that.
it's not necessary and has no redeaming value for the sport.
Bou
It is a blood sport and we all know that. That is not a bad thing to most of us
What does have a redeeming Value for the sport and are we really looking for one
I knew someone who had the same type mount. They were a real piece of shit.
What's next? A mount of a road kill deer with his intestines wrapped around his back legs and the rest of his torso flattened?
A real POS indeed!
I can’t figure out why you would mount anything like that. I think you would have to have something mentally wrong with you to want a mount like that.
Bad taste. Just like those who have to cuss at the animal disrespecting it and the hunting, fishing activity. Granted it can be frustrating to be a successful hunter or fisherman sometimes but I don't hunt for Fn'heiners, SOBs, bastards or M fers, I hunt for Whitetail deer, turkeys, grouse, pheasants and sometimes bears who are doing their best to survive.
I guess its cool if you want to be compared to this clown.
It is truly the worst ever. It accomplishes the exact opposite of what taxidermy is supposed to do. Mounts are honor and celebrate the life of an animal… not the death of them! Wtf
Better or worse???
(not my mount)
Better or worse???
(not my mount)
Both better. Now, if it had been a case of Bud Lite in Mertyman’s pic, well…….
I don't like it. Guy probably over cooked the backstraps too
I actually DO like the fish on a stringer and dead duck mounts. Probably prefer them to the imitation of life mounts. Personal preference and all that jazz.
It’s a Cheesy mount
These phony “detail” lines used to impress people 30 years ago. Now to be impressive they need to be accurate. Those creases in the neck look terrible. Not realistic at all
The tailgate one....not gonna lie. I kinda like it. Lose the case of beer, however.
