I had a new D-loop installed on my bow. After 8-10 shots my peep moves (twists) a bit out of line of site. I've taken it into Scheels to their tech - (been there 4 times now). They tell me the D-loop is loose and it moves a bit which makes the peep twist. They put a twist in the string for peep, but it keeps doing it. Ive never had this issue before, any ideas how to remedy this issue?

Go to a real archery shop

Get a set of quality string and cables.

Wood guy. Can you take a pic of the d loop? There’s some easy remedies once I see it.

First I’d twist the D loop so it’s square to the peep then mark the serving and the d loop with a fine tip marker to see if it moves. If it doesn’t, you can put the bow in a press and transfer strands from one side of the peep to the other. Same # of strands from each side..

You’ll have to play with strand numbers to get it right…

Check YouTube there a few videos on the process

Sounds like you have a poor-quality string that continues to creep (permanent elongation) which is causing your peep to turn. My guess is that the loop and the peep are both moving and not just the loop. Presuming so, your tech is full of it.

There are a couple of things you can do but if the string doesn’t calm down you need to replace. If the peep is consistently at the same location at full draw you can adjust it by adding a short piece of dloop i your string and sliding it up and down. Or if you have a silencer installed you can slide it up or down the string. Once you have your peep straightened out you need to take a set of needle nose and spread them open inside the loop to tighten the loop down.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys.

As far as a "quality" string its a Vaportrail custom string - installed last September 2022. So its fairly new, and its broken in. Hunted with it from October to January practiced with it throughout the season. Just picked it up again last month to get ready for upcoming bear hunt. Noticed my D-loop was prematurely worn in a spot and decided to have it replaced.

Bowfreak we did the needle nose trick - put them through the loop and applied pressure tightening the loop.

Blood - - I'll post some pics.

I don't see any glaring red flags in those pictures.

If I had it I would press it and give the string a half twist and see where that puts it. It is imperative that the loop aligns with the peep. Personally I would lose the kisser. It's possible you are rotating the peep by too much contact with the kisser?

Another possibility is your string is bad. Has your bow been exposed to heat? Trunk of the car or back of the truck in the hot sun? That'll ruin a string in short order.

String less than year old, Definitely not exposed to heat, been hanging in my climate controlled house until I picked it up last month to start shooting again. None of the issues started until day I changed the d-loop.

If I put twist in for the peep but the d-look is the issue - wouldn’t the peep end back up in same place after several shots? That is originally what they did.

Get rid of those little red rubber do-dads on your string. Totally unnnecessary.

There's a reason I quit using Vapor Trail strings.

Until Brotsky mentioned it I didn’t notice the silencers. All you need to bring the peep in line is to slide the top silencer up or down a bit until the peep lines up. Then tighten down your loop or tie a new one on.

This of course is assuming your string is good.

Well….I would loosen it up. And then I would tie in above and below your nocking point. So even if your loop twists, your nocking point doesn’t move. Then slide your D Loop back and cinch it down. It shouldn’t move if you re tighten it.

Also, I would just be curious if your serving is moving under the D Loop. I’ve seen that happen. I would just like to see if the serving is slipping.

Wrong loop mtl and it's starting to fray anyway. Toss it and get some bcy 23. Then polish the release jaws.

Like brosky and bowfreak said, loose the the string silencers and maybe the kisser, I would look at getting a better set of strings as well, lots of good string makers, I've had great luck with archeryshack strings

If you’re having a hard time adjusting the loop you could just cut that off and tie on a new one.. it’s pretty easy
