Got to wonder if capturing the cow and then the calf at birth had an effect on survival.

Yeah JohnMC, I wonder the same thing...
Would think 63% survival rate for the first year aint bad, it's not like the 82% from the first study, but still I'd bet it's better than Yellowstone calves...
As for future management plans, heck drawing a lottery tag now the odds are like a bajillion to 1 so that won't make much difference...
