Finally after 19 years. At 68 I'm not the same guy physically that I was 19 years ago, but I'm going to give it heck anyways. I also realize the Book Cliffs is not the same elk destination that it was 19 years ago either.....but we will both be glad to meet each other!

Congrats. I drew the mule deer tag on a fluke 10 years ago. I think you will really enjoy your elk hunt!

Congratulations! Drew that tag back in 2010. By far, the best elk hunt I've ever experienced. It was a solo elk hunt...but I was fortunate that BB drew a deer tag the same year. Got to hang out with a legend when not chasing bugling bulls!

Was lucky to draw that hunt first time applying in 1997 NR. Took a 320” as was average back then. It’s quite dry and crispy to stalk in bow range. Congrats. Switched to deer after that got a pile of points now 27.

Steve, congrats! Have fun but don't put too much pressure on yourself. I've been guilty of it & regretted it later!

Congrats! Love that place. Hunts can be tough and hot. Quite often Roads are on top and Elk are rutting in the bottoms. We went from 6 inchs of dust on the roads in places to 8 inchs of snow overnight with a crazy temperature swing. Take plenty of extra fuel and water and you will have a great hunt Elk should be rutting on the second half of the hunt. Good Luck!

Likely hiring an outfitter being from Ohio with limited time to hunt. Local guy with ranch right in the unit.

Congrats Steve!
I thought Book Cliffs was a premier mule deer archery zone, but not realized it was also premier elk zone too...
