Iguana hunting

We had lunch at a family’s home in Nicaragua on a recent mission trip. I saw this iguana in the sink and asked how they had killed it. A young lady retrieved a hand made sling shot from the house and of course I had to try it out. They served us a great lunch but unfortunately I didn’t get to try iguana ??

What is the material used for the power bands? Looks like just a really big rubber band… but I don’t think I have ever seen one that big….

It did look like a big rubber band but I don’t speak much Spanish so never asked any details

I have eaten iguana. Not my favorite. Very easy to overcook and then it becomes dry and stringy.
