I opened a thread over on the LeatherWall, but and so frustrated with UPS right now I could scream, so wanted to share my experience and vent here too...

Bought a Hoyt 21" Excel riser from a nice gentleman on the internet 6-weeks ago, but unfortunately it now seems confirmed UPS has lost it... A claim was filed, but they still can't locate it and nice seller just returned my money...

It was scheduled to arrive Jun 14th and made it all the way to my state within 50 mile of my address, but now they can't find it...

How do they lose a package that size... I could see if a bow got damaged (run over by a fork lift or whatever, been there done that with USPS) but how do they lose it... It's their freak'n business!!!

Those risers have been discontinued a while now and are almost irreplaceable... It's not like they can send me another one...

The seller been a great guy, very persistent trying to have UPS locate it and said he had over 30 emails working with them... I feel bad it's coming out his pocket, and he's out shipping and a riser and I'm out a riser, so I messaged him last night informing if it doesn't turn up within a month by August 15th, I'll split the difference of what UPS's refunds or resolves... I feel that would be fair...

It was "In Transit" scheduled to be out for delivery Jun 14th but didn't arrive... Then after about the 16th or 17th, I chatted online with UPS, and at that time they said they had it and it would be delivered... Well after a few more days or week or so, tracking status indicated "Delayed"... Well after another week or so, online still indicated delayed... After that I contacted seller giving him a heads up... At that time he assumed it was already delivered (I would have too, and hated to bother him)... We discussed it and agreed to give it until after the 4th of July weekend before opening a claim, so that is what we did...

I keep my fingers crossed every time I send/receive a shipped bow... I'm only one for three of the last 3 shipped, not very good odds... Number one a couple years ago where a BearCat got USPS crushed, one limb smashed... Number 2 receive okay, and number 3 is going on right now, with the Excel riser currently lost in UPS...

Is there any freak'n delivery system you can trust out there...

Sorry for your troubles, man.

But, just to be clear, the seller returned your money and now you plan to split whatever refund UPS gives you? If that's true, it seems like the seller is getting the short end of the deal. Wouldn't it be more fair to give the seller the entire UPS refund?

I think he means split the difference so if he gets back $10 more he gives the guy an extra $5?

That's how I read it too, Spike, but that still doesn't seem fair to me. As I understand it, Zbone got his money back, so his only lose is the disappointment of not getting the riser. The seller has lost both the riser and Zbone's money. If that's true, I think the seller should get the entire UPS refund, assuming it's less than the agreed to price of the riser.

Had a rifle shipped back from Weatherby, adult signature required. Driver dropped it off on the front porch with no one home. I was pissed. Got a call from a supervisor a couple days later to see if I had “found” the package. Tempted to say No, but figured it’d turn into a crap show with it being a firearm.

" the seller returned your money and now you plan to split whatever refund UPS gives you?"

NO, NO, NO, nothing like that... Geez...

I don't know if seller insured it, I didn't ask, thought it would be inappropriate to do so... I messaged him, if he is out my money, the riser and the shipping cost, I would split what money he lost... He's been a good guy and trust what he tells me he lost...

GG has got it... I got my money back without even asking, as said the seller has been great to work with... I don't HAVE to do anything, I just feel bad for him and offer to help him with money he'll likely loose if he didn't insure it... I'll trust what he tells me...

That stinks. FedEx lost a mulie rack of mine that was being shipped by the taxidermist to be freeze dried, so I can understand the frustration.

If you have already been made whole financially by the seller, what would be fair is he get any and all compensation paid by UPS. Any money you receive that is above and beyond what you initially paid is just profiteering.

UPS has a huge hub, somewhere in Illinois. I've had two shipments that I sent Customers, that simply disappeared when they arrived there. One was a giant, 80 pound box !

I avoid UPS at all cost now, I'll pay more for FedEx, to make sure my Customers receive their goods. That place is like the Bermuda Triangle .

I've had better luck with UPS than USPS. Hate that happened to both of you but it can happen with any of the carriers.

Thanks for clarifying, Zbone. That seems fair. Sorry I misread your original post.

elkmtngear - It made it all the way from the Dakotas to Mantua OH about 50 miles from my address, and Mantua is so small, I didn't know or even realize there was even a UPS store there... It's been misplaced since Mantua and am thinking likely routed to New Philly my county's hub... I think it got lost or stolen in Mantua, the last placed tracked... Am thinking about taking a drive to try and find out....

I’ve recently heard that UPS wants to go on strike. I would assume that’s because they do such a fantastic job of getting your packages delivered safe and sound, they feel they deserve more money.

Northwest airlines lost my 72” moose rack in 1991. If they can lose that, they can lose anything.

Btw- it was eventually found three weeks later but I was freaked out until I got the call.

I wouldn't say they "lose" packages, but no doubt there are various options for what they did with yours. Mistakenly leaving it at the wrong address without scanning it, and the unintended recipient simply chooses to keep it. A driver once left 7 large signature-required packages of mine at a house 2 miles up the road where no one was home. Luckily we recovered them. Driver can also have a package fall from the truck into the road and be picked up by random passers-by. Had that happen to one of mine once....figured the parked driver must have left it sitting on the bumper, then forgot and drove off. Luckily a good Samaritan found it and brought it over. Another possibility is damage to the label that is severe enough that the tracking and addresses are lost. Then it's sitting in a lost package bin until someone can figure it out. I guess outright theft is another possibility.

I've never been that lucky... If anything can go wrong with me, seems it does... Am only 1 for 3 of last three bows sent... Maybe I ought to play the lottery...8^)

I can’t remember the carrier but I ordered a full set of skid plates for a new Bronco last year. The two largest and heaviest of the four showed up with nothing other than a label sized piece of the cardboard box they were originally shipped in with the label affixed to the cardboard and that was taped to the box. Both had some scratches but since they’re underbelly skid plates I installed them and didn’t look back. The matching 100# winch bumper was lost for a week or two but eventually showed up with most of the box intact but some damage to the ends that I repaired.
