I'm not a big country music fan but have always like Jason Aldean and his music, especially after learning he was a avid hunter... Anyhow, what about his song/video "Try That In A Small Town" and now all the backlash? Heck the song has been out since May and now all the controversy in which CMT pulled it off rotation today... Some critics claiming it has pro-lynching and anti BLM overtones... And pro-gun... He!! yeah he's pro-gun, he's a hunter, but they're upset because he was there when the Vegas mass shooting tragedy happened and now think he should be anti-gun...

As to the song/video he's quoted as saying, "there is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it - and there isn't a single video clip that isn't real news footage - and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music - this one goes too far"...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxUtVhfBL1k

I hope he doesn't back down and sticks to his guns...

Ironically I've had tickets for months to see him tomorrow night and curious to see if he brings this controversy up on stage...

I’m not familiar with the song. I didn’t click on the link. But? Welcome to the madness that the BEG’s of the world create.

Zbone- I’m a huge country music fan and a big Jason Aldean fan but didn’t hear about the controversy. But doesn’t surprise me that the release of the video would be controversial. It shows real world footage of BLM riots, armed robberies and “smash and grab” jewelry story burglaries. The best clip was at 1:45 when the big ‘ol country boy turned the tables on not one, but 2 armed robbers at a convenience store (with nothing but his bare hands) and sent them running! : )

OF COURSE this is not politically correct! It’s TRUE, but not WOKE!

Reminds me of an incident that happened in NorthCentral PA many years ago up in the mountains....................a THUG from the city picked the wrong bar and the wrong nite to try to rob it! Was the evening before the opening day of deer season and he comes in and announces “GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY!” Before he can finish that sentence he had 7 pistols pointing at him from every direction! No need to even call 911 as he was out of there faster than you could say: concealed carry! ;-)

That’s one of the great things about living in The Country! : )

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Enjoy the concert and let us know how it goes!

it is evident nearly everywhere including bowsite that people look to be triggered. they have been taught or conditioned to behave this way and it seems to be a normal reaction anymore. look no further than recent threads on corner crossing and how women are being marginalized.

i do not listen to much music but i know of this singer. i recall his wife being outspoken about an issue or two in the past. i suspect part of this is because of that, and someone decided they were triggered over it.

both sides seem to seek out and attack the other, and in some cases even their own.

there is no fixing this and i expect it will get worse unfortunately.

Aldean has been one of my favorites since he came out. From what little I see, I have more respect for him than just his music all the time. I'm not sure he handled his prior marriage (breakup) real well, but I've made my share of mistakes. Again, from what I've seen, he and his wife stick up for themselves. Hope they keep doing it.

Nothing to see here. It's news footage of mostly peaceful protest that was applauded and endorsed by our current leadership and media.

Are we to understand that the same people who applauded it when it was happening don't want it shoved in their face now?

If you live in MN near the BLM riots and were paying attention you know about the story of the governor's approved Legislative candidate John Thompson. One that chanted "Burn Hugo to the Fnn.. ground." Hugo is a small third tier city NorthEast of the capital, the reason for the riot it that it is the home of the president of the Police Union.

After all of this was well covered by the media- the governor and his party did not pull their endorsement for the man shouting the terroristic threats. Lucky for the people in his district he lost a re-election. Oh plus there was the issue of him not having MN residence he was actually a resident of Superior WI, which he lied about on the political application. Fast forward to this month and his son who just got out of prison took police on a chase through a major highway system ending in a crash where he killed 5 women.

So try that in a small town, BLM supporters got away with that crap. A town by the way that still hosts an annual rodeo and has whitetail deer walking through neighborhoods with huntable turkey and waterfowl populations, some farms, etc. The silent majority is become less silent...

If you look at the link I posted of the video, you will notice it was only posted to YouTube 5 days ago. Typically singles are released, then sometime later(many times months later) they make the music video and release that. My guess is the uproar only started when the snowflakes realized Aldean actually used news footage of the riots and burglaries in his video........................

I mean the biggest thread going is about some guy winning miss whatever contest, time to start focusing on hunting and not the social issues. Where is PAT?? Why are these threads NOT stopped cold in their tracks? I thought this was a bowhunting site, not a political site. I hear enough of the bs out there and even though I throw my 2 cents in at times its time to hault these type of threads, don't you think? MODERATORS wake up!! Do your job!! Lol hopefully once elk season gets going we won't have to listen to these threads.

LBshooter, by no means am I trying to attack you but... if you don't care for some of the post here, why even comment about the threads content? Someone getting advice about a new truck, retirement suggestions, prayers for a terminal family member, ect. get rid of those too? As for "PAT", it's evident that he's fine with the numerous non-hunting post. Personally, I could care less about 90% of all the posting that goes on here but it's not in my nature to tell other grown men what they should or shouldn't be discussing. There are others who complain so as I mentioned earlier, it's nothing personal. Good luck this hunting season, Gene

I'm about as small town as you can get, from a town of about 900 people. I'm also about as conservative as you get. But I guess I have a different take on some of that.

Now my family and home are different of course. But I have a business in a nearby town of about 10,000. There was supposedly going to be a BLM protest near our business a few years ago. My secretary volunteered to come in the night of the scheduled protest to watch over the property and I said absolutely not. I told her that her life, and the lives of any protesters were worth way more than anything we have in that office, which is basically just furniture and computers.

Turns out it was a big dud. No news outlets showed up, and I'm not even sure any protesters showed up.

Quite honestly I wish that movie celebs and musical entertainers would stay out of politics. Nothing worse than finding out your favorite actors, and singers, have such disdain for the country that lifted them to their popularity status. The only reason these people think he’s promoting violence is because they have no clue as to what a constitutional foundation really consists of.

Just curious… How long ago was that? Just seems odd, seeing as there are not a lotta places I’m aware of where you are allowed to carry in a bar these days….

Reminds me of my buddy’s somewhat, ahh, Impulsive brother who was in a bar in St. Paul one night when a guy came in waving a pistol and got laid out on the floor for his trouble…. Turned out to be a CO2 gun, but I’m not sure my acquaintance was sure of that when he laid into the guy.

I don’t know what to make of the uproar here…

Seems that some folks are interpreting the footage as “don’t try pulling that looting and rioting bit here” and others think it’s “don’t think about holding a BLM protest here, peaceful or not”…

And those are two quite different propositions, to be sure.

People getting triggered and jumping into conversations where they’re not aware of the complete context really do become tiresome — Right-wing OR Left….

LB, it’s strict your choice. Just ignore what my be going on in your kids/grandkids classroom. Teachers are unionized, so naturally they’re trustworthy to the point that you don’t need to concern yourself with what they’re taught. And don’t worry about your wife when she goes into a public restroom. There are signs on the door that say “women”. So you don’t need to concern yourself with cross dressing freaks harassing and gawking at her. And don’t worry about what happens in your hometown. The only people causing problems are the violent rednecks and a**holes that just want to be left to their reckless gun waving and beer drinking before they go out and lynch yet another random black child.

So what are YOU doing about it? Besides standing by and hoping it fixes itself? Some of us are tired at the woke stupidity being thrust in our faces. Either stand up, or sit the F down. Like I said, it’s strictly your choice. But don’t expect the rest of us to ignore the obvious… no offense.

“…. where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief.”

There are a few bowhunters who I wish would think like that, rather than acting like a 3rd grader and forcing anyone they disagree with to take their ball and go home.

But I suppose people will pick and choose from Aldean’s message based on what suits them.

Just seems odd, seeing as there are not a lotta places I’m aware of where you are allowed to carry in a bar these days….

Jim- as I said, it was MANY years ago- think it was back when we had separate rifle seasons for buck and doe. BUT, as long as I have had a LTCF in PA, it has been legal to carry in bars and restaurants .................... I try to stay up to date on the laws regarding concealed carry and to my knowledge that has not changed!

Tonybear.....There was no chase involved with Thomson's criminal son.

He sped by a parked officer at 90+ mph. The officer never had time to engage. Never even put on his lights or siren.

It's reported they found quantities of drugs & a large amount of cash in the vehicle which had been rented only 1/2 hour before the crash.

To answer your question Corax- that was probably 25 years ago. But there STILL are a LOT of states where you CAN carry concealed in bars and restaurants. 38 to be exact. The only states you cannot carry in restaurants that serve alcohol are: Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Montana. The only states you cannot carry in bars is: Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington, Wyoming and D.C....................

Its "bro country/stadium country" music being sung by a guy wearing an outfit that costs more than his listeners weekly paycheck and he's singing about a town he'd never be caught living in.

What exactly are we mad about again? He's making money off his music good for him. If sponsors cancel him so be it... that's capitalism.

they are doing this to prevent or at least make someone think very carefully in the future from making a similar video and releasing a similar song. it will have that impact and effect. for those that are old enough to remember, imagine comedians like andrew dice clay or sam kinnison doing their act today. no one would allow it. free speech is not as free as it used to be.

4nolz, sorry, I should have clarified. The rend-necks and a**holes comment came from Charles Barkley. He was commenting on the Bud light issue. He makes millions running back an forth with a basketball, but that’s his opinion of people in rural America that don’t embrace woke stupidity. Apparently the liberals are upset because the building that Aldeen was in front of was the site of a young black boys lynching, back in 1927. You can get away stuff like that in the city, places like portland, philly etc....not so much in a small town...little town in PA...BLM was gonna march and burn down the courthouse , they were met by hundreds of "good ole boys"....courthouse stood.

Another little town in PA, BLM protesters showed up...so did the locals, BLM was told by authorities...you destroy one piece of property.....and yer on your own with them "good ole boys"....there was a fist fight on the street, but no property destroyed.

A few days ago, while I was grading my drive near the county road, a neighbor stopped to warn me that a local had been “burglarized”. I asked what the thieves got. He said, “nothing really”. Apparently the thugs tried to hot wire an ATV, but didn’t succeed.

In my 51 years I’ve grew up and lived this way m whole life. I live in the country but between several small towns. The river towns are the most protective towns in my area. I can honestly say where I’m from only 2 murders were ever even cared about. There have been many that I recall. Most of the time life goes on and most know what happened but little ever talk about it. Just the way small towns work. Not much different than big city’s just the amount of people you’re dealing with.

There’s nothing wrong with this song. In my opinion it doesn’t have any lyrics about some gang banger shooting cops. To each his own in my opinion. I honestly can relate to Aldeans song.

If I had to pick between a small town in a big city, it would be a no-brainer. When I lived near Darby, Montana, we would get city people coming through there all the time. And sometimes they would stop in the bar for a beer and make total asses out of themselves.

The sheriff of the town, Larry, Rose is a cool old dude. I remember one time some out of towner was in the Valley Bar being obnoxious. The bartender Autumn told him she could no longer serve him because he was visibly intoxicated. After that he got mad and things got even worse so she asked him to leave. He refused and continue to run his mouth so she called the cops. Larry came in and tried to take the conversation outside. Eventually, they ended up on the boardwalk outside and that’s when things got interesting. Larry is a pretty old guy and I guess the city slicker thought he could overpower him. He tried getting Larry’s pistol out of his holster! That didn’t work out very well and the guy left in a body bag. L O L, they gave Larry a couple days off of work while they tied up all the loose ends on the investigation, after which he return to duty.

Two weeks later, some idiot comes barreling through town, 65 mile an hour in a 35 zone. Larry pulls the guy over, guy gets out of the car, eventually hits Larry and tries to overtake him and you guessed it….. he left in a body bag too.

I guess that didn’t look too good because they gave Larry two weeks off of work to try to figure out if shooting two people in two weeks was a problem. Ha ha.! But that’s in Montana not California or New York and before long he was right back on duty. Keeping everyone safe. Yeah try that in a small town. At least Jason didn’t title the song “F-(k Around and Find Out Homie”

OK, one more I can’t resist. A friend of mine living in Darny had some long-haired hippies from Seattle move into a rental place next to him. A bunch of them all living in one place. They weren’t very friendly and one day my buddy came home to find all of his tools from his mechanic and body shop gone. He’s good friends with Larry so he went and told him about it. He told him he was taking his 12 gauge shotgun over there to get his tools back. Larry told him to give it a few minutes and he would go on the north, end of town and park. He said be quick , it probably won’t be long till the Ravalli county cops and or state troopers would be on their way. He said do what you Gotta do and when I know they’re getting near I’ll shoot you a text and you can get the hell out of there. Long story short, he got his tools back after kicking the door in and waving his shotgun barrel around the living room and no one got hurt. No one got arrested either. Haha! You criminals might have some better luck in them thar big cities.

This is all literally 3 miles north of where they film the show Yellowstone. I think the producers got half of their ideas from what’s actually going on around there. Lmao Yes… we invented the wolf collar floating down the river on a chunk of a wood trick. I couldn’t believe when I saw that on TV. It was almost like they asked Larry the sheriff what he would do! I watched the video when it first came out and saw nothing wrong with it as it showed blacks and whites being idiots. When the future Atlanta police training center was under attack I thought the people of Georgia would stand up in mass and stop the attack-nope they did nothing. In 1927 a young black boy was dragged by a car and then lynched in front of the courthouse in a ‘vigilante justice’ style attack, before he had a chance at a fair trial.

I guaran-damn-tee you, if someone tried that same thing at the same courthouse today, Aldean and his supporters would be the first ones to put a stop to it before it got out of hand, and would protect the accused from the same vigilante style justice…regardless of his skin color! I’m sure there are people that would attempt to take the law into their own hands, but true Americans with any amount of integrity would put a stop to it. I know I would, and I’d fight like hell to protect the innocent until proven guilty.

It’s just more liberal hype. If they can’t create chaos with false narratives, then it’s a racial problem. Unfortunately it’s the liberals that attach a racial narrative to every situation they can. The over exaggeration of every social issue is all they have to push their own racism and intolerance.

I recently moved to Florida, and have been welcomed here by all races and migrant groups. The attempt to divide us is not only ignorant, it’s counterproductive. But they already know that… hence the manufactured outrage they continue to conjure up.

The thing I find so interesting about this entire situations is how some liberals frame the song/video as being racist and inciting violence whereas I believe the most reasonable way to interpret it actually that it is inclusive. Meaning that those from a small town protect their neighbors, whoever they may be.

The thing that this most highlights is how so many people sit there waiting to be told by the popular media how they should feel. Sadly, that is true on both sides of this situation.

Such a clueless woman, I am pretty sure the rioters had no intent to protect Hugo, MN when they (e.g. Rep John Thompson and his ilk) yelled "let's burn Hugo to the fkn.. ground." The suit should end in a very large financial amount in favor of Jason (and everyone else who is tired of the rioters BS).

If you can't yell fire in crowded theater, you sure as hell can't instigate rioting by yelling "let's burn it to the ground..." under free speech. Terroristic threats are illegal whether you intend to carry them out or not.

I also hope that he wins big and hits them where it hurts like Bud Light and Target, but the way things end up going in this country, the hens on the view may countersue to get royalties for sending him to #1 :)

"Try cucking me in a small town"-Aldean-

is it normal for cowboy folk to wear hats indoors at the supper table?

02-Aug-23
When I heard about this I immediately bought the song and others Aldean has. Also still don’t drink Busch and its parent company’s products. It’s peaceful protest.

Soccer, They aren’t cowboys. So they don’t know the cowboy edicts. He is from the SE and a singer. Not a cowboy.

It’s more part of a costume than a useful tool as cowboys use them. But I have to admit I have western hats and boots, and I’m not a cowboy either.

But my Mom and Dad would have slapped it off my head if it wore it indoors let alone at the table.

the thing about thugs with guns....most of them couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.I mean exactly where are you going to practice shooting in the city?... meanwhile, out in the country, it's......"see that pasture grizzly standing out there"...lean the 22-250 across the railing of the back deck....pow.....300 yds......belly up.

I hear gunfire ALL the time around here, ya know why? because them boys are target practicing. so common hearing it i don't even notice.

Thug from the ghetto...."man country boy, you wouldn't last in the hood, everybody got a piece".....country boy... chews, and spit...."hell punk, i'd pick your ass off before ya got within 200 yds of me".

Most hood rats don’t understand that the sights go UP, whether you’re left or right handed when shooting, not laying 90 degrees to the right or left depending on what hand you’re shooting with.

My experience...... the idea that the bad guys can't shoot is dubious at best.

Wearing a white hat or a black hat has no bearing on ability.

TG....if you're referring to my black hat/white hat thing...hardly a race card. In the old western movies the good guy always wore a white hat and the bad guys wore dark.

If you think that's a race card thing I should care?

From: TGbow

Dan, I wasn't referring to your statement at all. I was referring to how the leftist folks draw the race card if they dont like what you're saying or just dont like you period. That's what happened with this song..they don't like it, so it's automatically racist

These videos past couple days of these 30 member organized mobs smashing and grabbing from high end stores is gonna cause somebody like a security guard who was just mazed to shoot somebody and then, they'll be called racists...

I have an idea to stop it.... Round them all up and if convicted, make them wear a high visibility ankle type bracelet around their neck for all to see... Bet that'd curb the violence and robbing...

My kids always give it to me to be a little less brutally honest at times. I call it being real. If people would face reality head on and not sugar coat it with all the crap now days to prolong reality, you’d change the direction of the gen x crowd from consumers to providers. Ah who am I kidding, that’s hard and would take work. With 3 kids between the ages of 23-18, never could I have dreamed I’d see so many young people just satisfied with being average

difference between the older generation and the current....

older......... I had ta quit school in the 8th grade to go to work, I worked 60 hrs a week in a coal mine, met your grandma, and had to borrow 5.00 to pay the preacher when we got married...we lived in a little house, saved money, worked hard bought a piece of ground, dug the foundation by hand , and gathered field stone for the foundation, your uncles and aunts were born, Work ,church, hunting in the fall.. but i didn't see much of them at first, because i was over seas fightin the war...it was hell never did so much walkin, or see so much dying...then there was normandy...(silence) shakes his head and looks at the ground. Ya swear there was a tear in the corner of his eye, but your not sure...cause you never seen grandpa cry.

new generation......

I grew up in the suburb, mom worked, dad worked, graduated from high school went to college, partied my ass off...didn't work much, but i did work at wal mart...got a man bun and some tats...worked out at the gym, tried construction but that sucked, got fired for sitting down while pounding footer pins in, BIG friggin deal who says i can't sit while working, it was so hot, couldn't keep my electrolytes up, shoulda turned the prick in to labor and industry, working me like that...just found out my bud thinks he's gay, sucks he had a kid to that chick he was with......

What happened to our country?......and why we got the problem we got now?....you would have to be blind not to see it.

didn't happen over night, just one little step at a time and here we are.....if we were smart we'd backtrack a little, because we sure took a wrong turn..

Hey Rut Nut, seen Jason Aldean last night in concert at Blossom Music Center which was originally scheduled in July and postponed due too vicious lightning windstorm...

Jason sounded great, and the concert was great, luved it, and my girl who doesn't like country music and was not into him luved it too.. I like him because he put Rock into Country... The sold out (again) crowd was on it's feet from the first song to the very last, unbelievable...

Here is what he said on stage about the controversy:

“This is always a cool place. I’m glad we got the chance to come back. There’s a lot to talk about. A lot of (expletive) happened since the last time I saw you guys.”

“I’m pretty sure that video came out the weekend we were supposed to play here the first time,” Aldean said. “So let’s just say this turned into a huge (expletive) storm the media came up with and it was pretty wild to see, honestly."

“I think anybody with common sense knows where I was coming from. I think there are people of all races that are tired with all of this (expletive) going on.”

After blasting the media for flipping the narrative and making “it something that it wasn’t supposed to be,” the singer added, “I guess their thing was that I would be super apologetic, but clearly they don’t know my ass very well.

“I stand by the video, I stand by the song… By the looks of it, there are a lot of people here who agree with me. My dad always said, ‘Say what you mean and mean what you say.’ I meant every damn word of the song and the video.”

He also added, he'll be singing that song in concert for the rest of his life...

Yeah Rut Nut, they dropped down that huge flag as a backdrop in the concert, it was freakn cool... Crowd went crazy...

Also, after the ending of "Try That In A Small" crowd started chanting "USA", "USA", "USA"...

One of the T-shirts I wanted was him and guitar outline against a flag backdrop on the front and "Try That In A Small Town" on back but they didn't have my size, but the one I really wanted said on front, "JASON F(his Georgia logo)CKN ALDEAN...8^) But my girl wouldn't allow me to get it...8^) Attached photo is the one I ended up with, has tour cities on the back...

I ended up buying 2 T-shirts, one for her and I, $40 each... $16 for tall boy beers... Alcohol was overly expensive, ran from $13 for 12oz beer to over $20 for craft beers and girly drinks... Concerts are expensive now-days...

Said to Deb, " I've never seen so many rednecks in one place...8^)))

When you go Rut Nut, be prepared, it's LOUD, they crank it UP!!!

I know why it is....the statement was meant for others to examine.

I am from rural PA, Most of our problems come from democrat areas, which if you look at a county by county map, democrat areas always seem to be around more populated city's and college towns.

Do rural areas and small towns have problems? yes of course....but generally rural people don't want this crap as a whole.

i'd venture to say that is probably how it is clean across the country.

But here in this county in central PA...Biden gets very few votes.
