My thinking is to hunt north of the I-40 and hope for a little cooler weather. The downside to this is pressure from elk hunters.
I’ve hunted a half dozen times south of the 40 between Kingman and Wickenburg but I think I’ll head north and get started right after Labor Day weekend.
What’s the deal with all that State ground checkerboard in those units north of 40 (is it huntable) and is the big Bo still accessible for a fee? I have hunted in this unit once but it was on private land.
Are the deer and elk existing in the same general habitat?
I’m just planning on tent camping and staying mobile. Never thought I would go out and hunt this is in the early but I’m really getting excited about it.
Grateful for any/all input.
Not a ton of deer, but they are there. State land is open for licensed hunters during a hunt.
I imagine deer will be tougher to find that time of year especially the bucks.
Unless you're hunting the Big Bo. I don't believe they allow hunting on water.
