You had just walked through that brush..in shorts, and the buck doesn't seem to care about scent left behind. That's a dumb deer...you should shoot it when the season opens. :)

I'd let that "dumb" deer live to continue breeding and shoot the smart ones. Cleanse the genetic pool and create a master race of dumb deer that don't pay attention to scent and come around in the daylight.
