Bill joined us with his longbow and bagged a great buffalo and giraffe. The giraffe was taken on foot after a stalk brought him to 30 yards. One well placed arrow and the giraffe was down. His buffalo was shot at 15 yards after another careful stalk. Well done Bill!
Bill was recently inducted into the West Virginia Bowhunters Hall of Fame. He’s a great guy and savvy hunter.
Congratulations to Bill. Very nice. Would love to hear what the specs on the equipment he used.
74# custom bow, can’t recall bowyer. Easton FMJ arrow with a heavy sleeve and Grizzly single bevel broadheads. Total arrow weight is 1000 grains.

He got about 15” of penetration on the giraffe. Ideally, a frontal shot on a giraffe is preferable in the depression between the shoulders where the neck is joined. The giraffe only presented a broadside but Bill hit it perfectly, staying away from the heavy shoulder.
Really cool stuff !!! Congratulations!
Spectacular! Well done all around! Love seeing guys getting the job done with the longbow! Tough to pull those heavier bows and shoot them well…
