Awesome. Great bulls so far. Hard to believe Canadians are only down 1 in the count… c’mon guys. Lol
first day of second archery season in NM, I didnt hear or see any elk. I moved sat to a different part of unit. We had a big rain day before opener. I felt like elk would move to some favorite areas that had been totally dry prior to this rain. I got there at first hint of light and after moving a suitable distance from my car I gave a single bugle. Got an answer close, maybe 100 yds. I quickly moved to better cover and gave a soft cow call. 3 minutes he walked into a lane, 43 yd broadside, and he tipped over within sight. I am 71 and still gettin it done, (with a lotta luck...)
Idaho 9-16 came in silent to cow calling, 18 yard shot, 40 yard recovery.
Western Colorado Muzzy Bull
If we’re talking inches you Yankees are gonna need a few extra bulls this year ;)

“If we’re talking inches you Yankees are gonna need a few extra bulls this year ;)“
Ain’t that the truth, of the 5 Colorado bulls I’ve seen this year their entire rack counts like one tine on those Canuck bulls.
You guys are doing dang good.
I just got home from Wyoming and we went 2 outta 3.
Just beautiful this year in Wyoming.
Congrats All,
Robb

Wow! Impressive bunch of elk! Congratulations to everyone who has tagged out on elk with their bows!
Mark and Dave have visited our Camp for the last 2 years, they are both in their mid 70s, great guys. Dave has Rheumatoid Arthritis, struggles on the Mountain. This is Mark's first elk, KHNC and I packed most of it out for him and Dave, who called me when he killed it. Unfortunately, it's the only blood we got on our hands in WY this Season.

I'd made the decision ahead of time that a cow wouldn't be passed this season. Saturday morning, medium sized cow, wide open at 25 yards and slightly quartered to, I wasn't passing up the gift of elk in the freezer.
I didn't have time to take my usual pile of photos. She was in the sun needing moved. It was all I could do to get her slid down hill and into the shade on my own. Actually the sliding down hill part was easy. It was directing where she slid and stopping her that wasn't. :)
After 3 years of not being able to chase elk due to health issues it was great to get back at it again. To top it off I got an elk on the second morning. I decided since I hadnt been able to go for a while the first one in bow range was getting shot. Clean hit, quick recovery, long day packing out. DIY general tag
Good to see you’re back out there, Shane. Congrats!
Glad to see you finally did something with your hair, Jim…
EDIT…..that guy in the pic is smiling…..definitely not Treeman.
Jim I didn't realize you had moved on from the mullet.
Before we all cry with Jim over his lack of elk, let's take a moment to realize he's going to hunt something like 180 days for the year of 2023. I'm having a hard time feeling too sorry. . . . :)
I reckon Troy and I were typing at same time
Archery only guys…remember it’s BOW-site!
Great bulls so far…congrats to all who filled their tags with a bow
My first bull 2023 wyoming general season tag. 2nd day at 8 yards, 730 am.
My good friend, Rodney, burnt his points on this Wyoming bull. Absolutely hammered him. I was super excited to get the text.
Your buddy done well Embry. What a cool bull.
Some great elk taken. Lots of good dinners!
My sons second year hunting elk with his bow, first elk, age 14. My buddies 1st elk and first year archery. On day 3, I called both bulls in together and they shot these bulls 10 seconds apart. My son’s shot was 9 feet.
Congrats to your buddy and son, stringgunner, and thanks for passing it on.
Kevin....that's a damn fine stack of firewood....... ;)
Congrats all!!!!
Wife was able to take her first elk with a great 40yrd shot.
