Magnus Black Hornet users...

Being a longtime BH junkie, decided to give the black hornet's a shot this year - got a good deal off a buddy that was selling some new in package so got two packs. Shot 3 blade VPA's for the longest time and still carry them at times - no complaints whatsoever they always did their job on whitetails and just incredible penetration, but figured so much energy not put to good use where i could shoot a bigger cut mechanical through a deer. The vpa's were always stuck deep in ground. Just wanted to "try" a big 2 blade again as I had not since about 2008 with the original 2 blade Rage heads and swore off them after a bad deflection (came open in flight). So I been shooting 2.25" cut 125gr Swhackers since 2019 with 100% recovery results and no tuning needed to match same POI as field points. Every ounce of KE is driving those through a deer but rarely ever stuck in ground. Usually get two holes but sometimes arrow stays in the deer. So I went from one extreme with uber penetration to the other extreme getting max cut but could use a little more penetration. Still am 16 for 16 with them...
So now will give these hornets a try - had to move rest a little to the right to tune to same as field point but they fly great. I like that these have 1 1/4" cut plus the bleeder blades that make them a 4 blade.
Only issue I see is that some have a little bit of wiggle in the bleeder blade and some are lock down tight. I don't think it's enough to affect performance, but wanted to hear what others using this head have experienced?
No info on these heads, but I am following this thread because I am using the Sea razors this year. Fly great, good steel, and sharpen well. I am also a Broadhead junkie. Used the grim reaper pro hades 4 blade before. They were great with no problems. Just trying something else.
Following too. Use the 2 blade Stingers for years out of my longbow. Thinking of giving the 2 blade hornets a try.
I absolutely love the black hornets. Out of my set up they fly great, and punch a nice hole in stuff, can't beat the warranty either. Having utilized before they stand behind their lifetime warranty no questions asked. Recently sent two in that I couldn't edge back on and mentioned that I had one that I shot into a T-post and rolled over the tip, they said send it our way and replaced it. Great head and even better company!!
KSBOW - any issue with some slight play in bleeder blades on some heads? As I noted - have a few doing that but so very slight I do not think it's a concern.
Also - easiest fix blades I ever sharpened. Took one I had shot 30 times into foam, and put it on two -sided G5 diamond stone, then a little bit of the jewel stick, then wiped on leather strop with some stropping compound and just pops the hairs right off are as good or better than any factory replacement blades.
Jack I’ve used the black hornets previously and the little bit of play shouldn’t be any issue. They are an amazing head. I am unsure what head will be on my arrows this year but it will definitely be a Magnus. Best customer service in the business IMO.

I have shot them but decided on nut using on hunt. For what ever reason they were loud in my set up. Flew good but I could hear the shot more and decided to not go further. I did not notice and wiggle but now I am going to look at them again and see?
Could you use a dot of super glue to keep them from moving?
I didn’t have any wiggle in mine that I noticed…I’m gonna check tonight tho when I get home.. love them so far..
FWIW, I started using them this spring. I have the Ser Razors. Ive had no issues with any movement in the bleeders, and no issues with flight or POI out to 60 yards(the farthest Ive been able to test so far) They sharpen very easy with a Lansky style system.
I shot my Manitoba black bear with them. I was amazed at the bloodtrail, and my guide was super impressed also. The bear didnt go 60 yards, and we had blood within 5 yards. After 10 yards a blind person could follow the trail. Shot was about 13 yards, 430 grain arrow, 300fps, and was stuck firmly in the ground after passing through the chest cavity. The bear weighed a tad over 400#, and the broadhead was in perfect condition after cutting a couple ribs and lodging in the dirt.
Im hoping to get to run a couple more through some deer this fall.

Due to shoulder surgery earlier this year, I am having to reduce my poundage from 52# down to 45#s.
I talked with Mike at Magnus and he recommended the 100 gr. Black Hornet. I am shooting an Easton Axis 400 with a 75 gr HIT insert. TAW is 483 grand. Arrow choreographs at 216 fps. Due to light draw weight and heavy arrow, I am restricting shots to 30 yds max.
The bow set is shooting some beautiful flighted arrows. I await to see BH results. I have a hunch with the weighted arrow and sharp BH things are going to be positive.
It was surprising how effective they penetrate with that blade angle. I saw no difference between those and buzzcut 4 blades.
I am shooting the 2-blade model of the Black Hornet. I think the blade thickness is a plus.
emailed Magnus about 2 out of 6 heads having loose bleeders - Mike Sohm got right back to me and he said he has never seen this issue and to send them back. Amazing customer service. Wow.
My wife has used them for a few years now. Complete pass-thrus on every animal….with a low poundage bow. Good blood trails too!
Being from Kansas is what initially attracted me to the company they way they handle customer service is outstanding. Truly one of a kind as far as broadhead replacement goes. Can't say enough about how well there heads work as well!!
So which one does everyone prefer, the straight or serrated?

Wasn't there rumors of a 150 grain version of the Black Hornet coming out? BTW, I would have no concerns hunting with any of the Black Hornet heads. Great design.
Magnus is fantastic on customer service. From my two or three experiences directly with them, I respect the way Mike runs things.
My only complaint is they are not broadhead sharp out of the package.
I have had loose bleeders before on Stingers I just put a drop of super glue on each side of the blade and put them back together and they worked fine.
I have not shot the Hornets but have heard good things. Good luck.

I wanted to test them out last year, tried them out on a doe late season and I was very impressed. They fly great for me and the blood trail was very easy to follow.
My wife just arrowed her AZ bull with the four-blade Black Hornet (straight). It broke part of a rib going in and buried in the opposite shoulder. The bull was down in 70 yards……she only shoots 41 pounds!
So I am two for two with these heads. A 9/11 doe, and a BIG 9/15 buck. Both heart shots. Doe ran 40, buck ran 60. Both dead in seconds. Max penetration. My only concern is that there was little to no blood trail on each. Blood by arrow, but just a few pin head drops leading to both deer. Others tell me they get paint can blood trails on heart shots, but definitely not with these.
I need to make a double lung on next deer to fully evaluate, but for sure they kill clean and fast and fly and penetrate great!

I have found it is about 50/50 on heart shots as whether I get a good bloodtrail or not. I believe that sometimes you literally stop the heart from pumping or pumping efficiently. When this happens they are dead on their feet even though they don’t bleed well.

This was my first year using them. Serrated version.
I posted on my bear already, but have since taken 2 Ohio whitetails, a coues and javelina with these heads. I killed 2 bucks and a javelina with 1 broadhead. Bloodtrails are very good, and they are much more durable than I expected.
I can still use both broadheads that have taken game, but the last shot was a javelina and upon passing through, it hit a rock and broke the tip off, but everything else remained intact.
Im very happy with these and will most certainly be keeping them in my quiver.
