Took my daughter out for her first with a bow this past weekend. She hunted hard last year during bow season with no luck. First sit of the season this year and she connects!
I was able to capture the hunt on film and got great footage.....
Great hunt, good memories, and a newly minted bowhunter!
Nice shot Justice, and great video Dad!
Great shot Justice and nice video! Congratulations to you both.
Awesome job Justice and dad!

Those old Ace broadheads do the job.

Opening morning, Missouri
Great stuff and congrats everyone!
Keep them coming and stay safe!
Well, he’s still out there but the hunt was a success… 7 year old KY deer… everything worked out perfectly except one thing, as I recorded him after 10 mins I thought he will drop 3-6 inches from the 16 yards where my blind was, finally he offered the shot and I aimed right at bottom of body (planning he’d drop) and he didn’t and my arrow gave him a clean shave, lol… good news is that TT recurve is so quite everything bolted and came right back in but him, he causally walked off… I’ll let things settle for a couple days and move in again. It was a success for hunt in all regards … perhaps the Lord will allow me another opportunity? This is a clip pic of of the video before camera died.
Dang RK! You have a good one there and it appears by the body he’s 4.5 years old?
Happy as heck for my nephew, but not sure he gets to sit my good stands for the rest of the year. :)
Mainframe 5x5 with 15 scoreable points. Not bad for a first with the bow.
Baptist. Yes a really good one. Free range and yes looks like 4.5. Seems like I usually guess wrong by a year with our deer so maybe 5.5. B with this camera angle 4.5
RK, WOW!! Some of those tines look to be at least 14". Get him on the ground and post a bunch of pictures. Then let us know what he grosses;)
1st night out 7 yard shot had 14 milling around eating acorns
Better take a sip of good whiskey on that one Rob, just to steady your nerves !
Those are some very nice bucks congratulations to each of you.
RK that buck makes me miss TX more and more. Our D'Hannis lease was a special place. I'm probably way off, but I'd be inclined to put him at 4.5 too - that straight back line has me wondering. I'd be very curious what his jaw/teeth tell us.
Don yea one before and one after :)
Rick I'm truly thinking the same thing.

I have shot a number of deer with a longbow, but a few years ago I purchased a Schafer Silvertip Recurve. I had yet to harvest one with it, but finally succeeded this past week.
I got some great footage and made a tribute video to Paul Schafer.
First kill with my new Mach 34 . 13 yards just before dark in SC yesterday. On my own property.
Come on RK - lets see that TX Giant on the ground soon!!!!
Can't ever remember seeing a trail cam pic of a "what if" on a Meatpole thread, who cares. Congrats to the hunters above who didn't just shoot some trained barnyard animal!
Of course why was I surprised.congrats to everyone.
Picked up a JT Traditional Apollo 2 last week and took it to the woods for the first time this evening. 5 yard shot, watched him go down.
Saturday evening. 32 yards. 70lb mission compound. Third deer I’ve shot with this broadhead. On trad and a compound. Best blood trail I’ve ever seen. Tooth of the arrow did good.
Slightly quartering to me. Ran 90-95 yards. Yummy, yum..
The arrow. The blood trail was tremendous.
Got my first whitetail buck with trad gear this evening. I'm tickeld pink!!!
Nice deer guys. Congrats Eric on your first trad deer!
Congrats hunters! Eric, tell us the story... great pic.
Noah with an unexpected buck.
You better quit feeding him so much, David. He’s growing up too fast! Congrats, Noah!
Got a nice doe first hunt of the year . Went Sunday morning and was in the stand about 20 minutes when 2 does fed up the mountain towards me . No fawns with them ? They got to about 15 yards and 30 yards from me when the closest one bolted , I put the middle pin of the Bare Bones on my Parker compound on the other doe and released , she shot forward from the noise and hit her just forward of both hams nicking the inside tenderloins just under the backbone . Waited 2 hours and found her just 50 yards down the mountain . Never had one react so quickly but she was on full alert ! I will try to learn how to post pics .
No kidding t-roy, he's playing football now and eating everything in sight!
Congrats to Noah! The unexpected ones are always a pleasant surprise.
Shot a dink in SC on a small piece of public. Sometimes you just feel like sending an arrow!
Nothing wrong with that buck KHNC and nothing wrong with wanting to send an arrow at times. Looks like a fighter!
I took this one Monday in SE PA.
Dang Griz, thats good one! And yeah the little guy liked to scrap looked like! Got a lot of little bucks sparring on my farm in SC last 5-6 days. Mostly all nocturnal still but its getting closer!
WTG everyone , some good venison down !
Dang nice harvests All.
1 of these years, I'll get my 1st ever Whitetail Buck!
Good luck, Robb

Sept 21 I posted on this thread a 12 Ky deer I shot underneath… figured he’d drop and didn’t… this morning God gave me another opportunity at him… note the pic on chest bottom where I grazed him…

Eastern Montana Missouri River buck
Loving all the pics and "Grip and Grins"
Great deer all!
Killed this buck yesterday evening 10/18 with my Bear Grizzly recurve, aluminum arrow and Ace Standard broadhead.
This one is a great character buck. Lots of little stickers. LWCB Mortifera bow.
This doe I killed was probably the most gratifying kill in the last 10 or more years. I killed her on a controlled draw hunt through the state at the Army ammunition depot in SE Oklahoma. It’s traditional bows, no baiting, hang your stands on Thursday afternoon and your hunt starts on Friday morning and goes until Sunday at noon. 43,000+ acres and you are designated an area which is hunted prior weeks and up to the weekend before Thanksgiving week. 240 hunters or more per weekend. If you kill a doe they will issue you a Quality Pass (QP). I have been 4 other times and swung and missed or never swung at all.
I killed this doe on the last evening I could hunt. Besides feeding my family, it will earn me a QP to come back next year without having to wade through the controlled state drawing. Best thing is… it’s moved up to the 25-27 of October due to when October 1st falls next year. Now, I just hope it’s not 87 degrees this time next year. :)
I shot this guy on the evening of 10/22 in Ohio. He knew something was not quite right and turned to go back. Unfortunately for him he stopped after a couple of quick steps to check his back trail. Fortunately for me I had drawn when he turned and was ready when he stopped.
Attaboy Boggs! Great deer!
Lots of good ones here so far, and its early!
Nice buck Cliff, CONGRATS!
Lucked out the 18th and got a 14 yard shot on this guy and he went less than 15 yards and didn't even act like he had been hit before he went down. I was trying a wasp havalon broadhead. North Central Nebraska.
Nice bucks guys! Congrats
Some great does and bucks!
Congratulations everyone! Some fine deer taken.
Congrats to all. Way to fill those freezers!!!
See how Marty is not only a studly hunter, but also a gentleman and scholar for posting the date and state where his buck was taken?

Wow, some real dandy buck getting taken, congrats everyone!
Thank you guys. Buck of a lifetime for me. It was quite a hunt. Had some trail cam pics of him at night, but never expected to see him in person in daylight.
Zbone, he’s a main frame 12 on the left. 10 on the right with a forked G2. Then he has a split brow on the right brow tine and a one inch point off his left brow to make him a 14 pointer. I’m going to get him officially scored at some point for a big buck contest I’m entered in.
I think you will win that contest Don…
—Jim
Congrats on one a heck of a deer, Don!
Great bucks guys. Don that is a hammer holy cow!
Some unreal deer and great pics. Wow, Don. Stud. Looks like an all-around bruiser! Congrats to you and there thus far.

Buddy of mine killed a good one this evening...
Said it was going away and he snort wheezed and it turned around and came right to him...

Blessed to get this buck 11/7 in Michigan. He gave me the slip 4 days ago. Shot him tonight after 11 1/2 hours of an all day sit. Not my finest shooting, but happy nonetheless
Craig
Fiance's first deer with a bow off my own small piece in KS, 10/29/2023. Was sitting next to her and watched the whole thing.
Probably the most excited I've been about someone else's deer!
Great bucks and does guys and gals. My second doe so far this season.

Rattled this one in last weekend......came in tearing up trees, making ground scrapes, and all bristled up stiff legged and licking lips. He was not happy! Haha. Really fun encounter!

Got to break in a new bow with Rob Nye in Canada. Thanks bud. Some great deer continued good luck to all. Keep em coming.
beeman - Luv the dark antlers, Congrats!
Bow looks like a Widow, are those carbon limbs?
Been painfully slow here this year.
Some great bucks going down...congrats to all!
First time I've taken a "rutcation" in several years. Had a blast filling a stack of doe tags, hunting with friends, and taking a nice buck at the end. Iowa, Nov. 10 for Idy. ;-)
Great bucks here. Here is a picture and video link of a really good buck for our area of PA that my son took last week.

Wife says you have some unfinished business, Nick. “New Rule”!
She can count on me to finish my obligation in January, Troy. I just hope I don't mistake a buck with its antlers sawn off for a doe! Hope you saved the "sheds" just in case. ;-)
Enjoyed that video, Gene, and congrats to your boy! Liked and subscribed.
WOW! A lot of great bucks this year. Congratulations to everyone.
Killed this buck in a small grove out int he middle of the sandhills on a slow one man push. Some great bucks on here this year!
Rattled this guy in and I was skylined. At 25ish yards he was frontal and looked up so the gig was up. I was already at full draw and sent it.

Goofy buck.
Goofy buck.
Weird/tough year. Hadn't seen a 2.5 or older buck since August in the flesh. Never hunted until late October. First racked deer I've seen while hunting and it was a real cool scenario rattling him in and had a blast letting an arrow fly. Drove into town, pulled my daughter out of school and had her track the deer up for me. Best recovery ever and man did we have fun together! She got to enjoy her first gutting as well. We checked everything out and called that day a Biology/PE day! :)
Great hunt at bow camp in Northern Wisconsin
Adam, that's awesome, I did the same with my kids when they were young. Congrats on the buck Congrats to everyone who has posted their kills!
Yeah, some more nice bucks folks, CONGRATS!
Thanks for passing it on, Adam!
Ohio 11/8/23. Busted back leg contributed to the uneven rack I assume.
Dressed over 230#

NJ the week before… Terrible pic I know
Lots of great bucks here. Congrats to you all!
T-Roy “slow year”?? Then sign me up. Nice buck!
All the usual suspects on here killing nice deer as they do every year. Do huntman, beav or carcus ever not fill a tag? :) natural born killers.
I’m sure we’ll see Cazador’s and Forestbows’s big bucks here soon.
I’m still trying to put a tag on a spot and stalk CO Eastern Plains buck.
The rut got going around the 9th but the 70 degree days have been tough.
Good luck to those who still have a tag in their pocket. It’s the best time of year to be in the deer woods.
I got this guy last week on the 6th in Indiana with a good friend on his farm. He showed up tonally engrosed in smelling my track. I have been using Ever Calm on my boots and he was tracking me like a hound. He gave me a perfect 15 yard broadside shot and went 130 yards. We caught him on the trailcam after the shot as well. He dressed out at 185 lbs.
Here is the trailcam pic.
That's a cool pic! Congrats on the buck too!
That is awesome! Hauling freight on his death run!
That is awesome! Hauling freight on his death run!
This is a special deer to me. First one this season in CT. State land. 127lbs dressed.
A lot of great bucks going down. Congrats everyone.
I spent the first week of November with a good friend from WY bowhunting. He was able to take a nice 8 pt and a doe and I took this 11 pt and a doe. It was a great week.
My daughter was on most of the recoveries and she had two different HS girls with her to help. I have still not gotten to the point where shooting stuff isn't fun.
Congrats to all! Wish I had something to contribute but it seems like I have been cursed of late. Hoping to change things up.
Pennsylvania, Shot this guy on November 10th. Second year of chasing him. Lost his doe and was out searching when I shot him at 11:50. 156" with a 21.5" inside spread
Finally a contribution to the pole!
Great deer everybody!
Here's one from Kansas on 11/10
Rattled this guy into 32 yards late morning and stopped him just before he hit my scent stream

Thanks buckeye, the perks of being retired!
Some incredible deer this year. I was hoping to get to post in the elk meat pole this year but, deer will have to do as elk was unsuccessful.
Wow, so many dandy bucks! Congrats to everyone.
I was unable to get my hands on a tag for November out west, so I flew back to some old public stomping grounds in Ohio.
First morning hang-and-hunt on my 35th birthday, wasn't going to pass a birthday buck! November 13th
Congratulations everyone. Some nice deer

The thread is 70th birthday buck (s)
He woulda been really big if he got the extra inches of those common bases ( but he’s big enough for me either way)
Wow great bucks guys! And caribou, that thing is amazing, and what a great commemorative buck!
“I hate to break it to you but there is a ton of common bases on that monster”
And that’s why it’s so good that P&Y includes gross score now too. The total picture.
Proud grandpa here wanted to show my oldest grandson's first deer, shot Sunday morning, yesterday during our 2-day Youth Season... Finn is 11-years old, his smile shows it all, he is now hooked...8^)
Kansas Nov 5th my wife made a great shot on this buck
KS Nov. 17. Probably one of my favorite hunt of all time. Shot him at 8 steps over a decoy.
Congratulations to all. Some really big deer this year.
My favorite 14 year old grandson got his first buck while hunting with me in ND. My son Weston flew his nephews out to hunt
My favorite 16 yr old grandson RJ got his North Dakota buck today. Hiked in 2 miles in the dark , put his own stand up and shot this guy about noon today. We hiked in in time to have Nolan and RJ pack the quarters out
Post the pic Rgiesey. :)
Congrats to him that's awesome!
Great deer, everyone. Congrats!

Nice bucks everyone. This is my late rifle season archery buck. Shot was about 50 yards through the heart with my old Mathews ZXT and Magnus Stinger broadheads. He ran about 40 yards before his back legs gave out.
Congrats on a great buck, Thornton!
Finally burned my Iowa points. Saw a couple great bucks but managed to tag out last day.
Christmas Eve Nebraska buck!
Wow....that's a great late season buck !
The Nebraska deer thought they were safe this year…..than Zach came home for Christmas haha!! Awesome buck Zach!
Congrats be still! Not everyday that you can take down a tank like that .....
This is a whitetail thread, but are you saying there are feral cattle in Kansas that can be hunted?
Zbone I think it was a four strand barbwire hunt. Not sure, maybe be still can fill in some details.
Either feral or there’s gonna be an angry farmer somewhere Gary hahaha
Nothing like that feeling be still...Happy cow hunting!!! Keep it real
Ever heard off the right time and place be still? The meat pole isn't the place for you to try and make a point that's being discussed on several other threads. Have a little respect for this place and have a merry Christmas.
Take it easy there "be still", meant no offence, Merry Christmas!
When my grandfather ran cattle on the Farm, he bought a couple from the sale that were so wild they'd jump a 4-strand barbwire fence and we wanted to kill them trying to get them back...
It's been a long season but finally put some winter solstice meat in the freezer!
zabwelch...that's a wonderful picture and a great buck! I think I'd put that picture on the wall! Congratulations!
Bernie
Atta boy, Zach! I see Santa brought you that mustache you’ve been asking for, too! ;-)
These pictures have rekindled my desire. This fall was sooo slow in Sasky - many Dawn til dusk sits with zero sightings. I held out for a big one, and ended up eating the tag. Good thing the Mrs got it done … passthru with her 42lb compound. Fell within sight.
Finally filled an Iowa tag. Used my muzzy, but too cool of a buck to not show him. Merry Christmas
Finally filled an Iowa tag. Used my muzzy, but too cool of a buck to not show him. Merry Christmas
Congratulations to everyone who harvested such great deer this year. Awesome pics.
The day after a Christmas snow storm I punched my second tag in Nebraska at 24 yards. Great year everyone!
Crusher Marty, congrats all around!
Great job, Marty! Congrats!
