Fold up is a nice option. So if not in use raise it . My wife backed into a car with ares she forgot it was back there. Non folding cheap Cabela's but has worked great.

We have one from Cabela' s that wasn't expensive that we have used for 20 years that works just dandy. It isn't aluminum though.

Went and bought a atv carrier that has a 5 inch rise. It's going on a Honda Element and wanted something smaller with the upswept bar. Ground clearance is an issue. It will hold up to 300 pounds and once strapped in it should work fine. Thanks for the opinions.

I have had the same hitch hauler for 20+ years it was fabricated by Blackwells welding in New Braunfels TX.
I'd recommend finding a good welder/fabricator close to you and have one built to your specs.
PM me and I'll send you a few pics and measurements of the one Blackwell built.

LBshooter, those upswept ATV carriers are nice. They will definitely hold more than 300lbs.

I am surprised no one has made one that is collapsible or easily disassemblable to put in a bag (in the back of an SUV or backseat of a truck); to be deployed when you kill/need it.
I have gotten to where I drive my suburban hunting more than my truck and do not like having to mess with a hauler hooked to the hitch all the time. I am thinking about buying one that will convert to a roof rack.

RutNstrut, I hope so. The deer I shoot tend to weigh in around 120-160 lbs. a big buck a bit over 200. Opted for the steel frame one instead o ft he aluminium, time will tell.
