So which one of y'all owned this '78 Golden Eagle I just picked up out of CO? When I sent the offer to the owner I didn't hear back for 2 weeks. Apparently he was fishing in Alaska.

I don't know who this fella is but he's got great taste in Jeeps and hobbies!

Lee, I'll take the Jeep, but will pass on the high-maintenance hood ornament.

Had my share of CJs. They may be close to as much maintenence as the hood ornament.

Nice find, Bowjangles!! There's not many original survivors like that one. FYI, the engine is most likely a 258, not 256. The nice thing about CJs that are older than 1982 is they didn't come with the trouble prone computer and crude emissions systems that later models had.

I learned to drive in my Father's 1972 CJ5, and I still own his 1981 CJ7. I restored it about 10 years ago, including a swapping in a 360 V8 and a T-19 transmission. Now, she's mostly a garage queen, but still one of my most prized possessions.

If you have any questions about your new CJ, I'm an active member on the best Jeep CJ forum on the internet. It's group of very friendly folks who know everything about CJs. PM me if interested.

Luv the CJs... I had a 98 Wrangler, and still miss it...

Yeah, that hood ornament would cost REEEEEEALY big money to maintain...8^)))

I didn't even notice the mistype on the engine size. Nice catch! Def a 258 and bone stock. Still has all that ridiculous emissions stuff hooked up. I was a big into the intermediate CJ5's but finding the parts was too much of a headache so I started chasing the 7's. I had 7 CJ5's and this is my 3rd CJ7. I usually play with them for a while and flip them but the GE will get restored. It's too cool not to! lol
