Speaking of things going to the dogs. Teal (just turned 16 month old) continues his training for the Yard Hopper archery goose series. We went west in Colorado to find a few Sage Grouse and found a good covey. His first real hunt. Got two, Teal retrieved two. A good day in the field. The Yard Hopper series will begin in mid December.

He is no longer an awkward pup, and looks like he’s coming along nicely Paul. I see you have a Browning stack barrel there, can’t go wrong with that.

As usual, there a lot of local geese around.. The goose field grass is growing tall so I went out with the lawn mower and cut two large 30 yards circle in front of the two blind locations for the decoy spread and a landing place for the geese. Will see if this works when time comes.

Sounds like you and Teal had an incredible day out in the field! It's always so rewarding to see your pup's training pay off, especially on their first real hunt. Kudos to Teal for those successful retrieves! Sage Grouse are no joke, and it's fantastic that you both found a good covey. With the Yard Hopper archery goose series coming up in December, I'm sure you're busy prepping. Given that you're spending a lot of time outdoors, have you considered flea and tick prevention? I recently read some wondercide reviews that talked about how effective and natural the product is. Might be worth looking into to keep Teal protected while you're out and about.
