Will be doing a boat based hunt with Ninilchik Charters the first week of November. Will be our first time on Kodiak. Any recommendations on where to have them drop us off in the Larson/Spiridon Bay area where getting off the beach to higher ground won't be to difficult. Thanks!

There are few places in that area where getting from the beach to the alpine is "easy!" Alder thickets are not your friend.

Just look from off shore the night before and select areas of less brush. In GENERAL, slopes with western exposure have more large openings.

One thing to remember is that often the most deer activity is right at the snowline.

Our hunt starts on the 4th. I'll be in kodiak on the 2nd. Maybe we'll cross paths somewhere along the way. GOOD LUCK!

Depending on weather sometimes it will depend on where they CAN drop you, not so much where you want to be dropped.

I completely understand if they are only operating as a transporter (not outfitter) they can’t really tell you where to hunt, but I bet they know where they have dropped guys before. I’ve never hunted Larson Bay, so I’m no help on specifics, but suspect there are probably only so many places they can drop you most of the time.

Good luck, Kodiak can be fun or frustrating depending on the week it seems.

I'll be in the area. Not sure which side, as I'm just there with a local guide and ship captain that is friends with my buddy. We'll all be hunting deer. I think 1 guy has a bear tag.

Lots of folks headed to Kodiak it seems. Please consider posting up photos. I haven't figured it out yet, but it's on my bucket list.
