Caught a picture of this guy while out and about today. I've not seen such palmation on any of the local deer, or in real life. I think it's pretty cool. Show them it you got them pictures of palmated mule deer antlers.

zbone he was with this buck. I like to eat them, the other buck looks healthier, but I'd probably also shoot the palmated buck.

Mom dallied with a caribou ;-)
Kidding aside, would like to know how old he is.

He looks like a youngster, I'd like to see him in 3 years

Kinda looks like he is knock-kneed a little bit. I had a whitetail buck on trail camera for a few years, that was knock-kneed as well.

I hunted a monster palpated mule deer back in the 90’s up in NW Colorado.
Wish I had pictures but that was before I had a cell phone or an attachment for the spotting scope. That buck was easily 230”+. Emptied my quiver on him and he just stood there as I stood up and started walking towards him to pick up the arrows…
One of many experiences with giant mule deer that still haunt me…

Kinda makes you wonder how much of all this “stealthiness” is really required, doesn’t it?? LOL. BTDT, just with far less interesting deer.
@Peco - were those in an area where you get WT hybrids? The one on the left doesn’t look like he can make up his mind…

Corax, not really. There are a few deer around here though with a rack like his. The one I arrowed last year looked related.

Yeah PECO2, how does he walk, are those knock knees obvious? Maybe could have been injured causing the palmations...

It very cool. It seems like there must be a palmation gene buried deep in all deer species, maybe going back to a common ancestor..

That's a super cool Muley. I had the same thought Corax did... that one on the left looks like a whitetail rack on a mulie body. The knock-kneed palmated one is super cool.

He did have a limp, more noticeable in his right rear leg. Overall he did not have a smooth deer gait.
