Peak Refuel on Amazon.chicken alfredo, chicken penne, chilli mac, beef stroganoff, biscuits and gravy. I did not like the sweet and sour pork. Too sweet

I’m not brand loyal. Each company has offerings that beat out another. But, hands down the internet is the best place. Hunting forums and eBay is full of guys dumping meals after their out west hunting is over for the year. I average about $6/meal shipped that way.

But, I’m not particular either. Food is nothing but fuel on hunting trips. But, if you are eating these meals for a week or more, it can get mundane. And, there’s not much that can’t be masked with a little seasoning.

Sam’s club sells bulk packs of salt and pepper. Plus condiments like Tabasco and other hot sauces in little tear open packs. If you really want a treat, buy some jelly in those packs and put it in your biscuit and gravy or breakfast skillets. You can thank me later on that one.

Peak has definitely become my favorite brand. I still eat some MTNH meals, and have been eating the Heather's choice meals for lunch (not as much as other meals) . Get most of mine either off Amazon or from black ovis.

Peak are pretty darn good. The other brands I have a few favourites and depends on the person. The peak cookie bites are not my favourite though. It is hard to mess up the granola breakfast by anybody. MH lasagna or spaghetti are classics. Go with variety so if you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it again until you find some favorites.

Overall I like Peak better than Mountain House but I do have several of the MH meals that I like and still buy.

I’ve eaten a lot of MH over the years. Switched mostly to Peak Refuel now and IMO they are a definite improvement. They are $2 more than MH but taste $10 better. They both rape us on the price in Canada, so I only use them when required for weight savings.

I don’t get the value in the granola breakfasts. You can put exactly the same thing from the grocery store into a Ziploc for one fifth the cost. And your choice of fruit.

I’m actually surprised that for the amount of diy guys on here that many don’t just cook their own meals and then dehydrate them. It’s pretty easy and you get way better meals with no gut issues. Also, just do an internet search and you will find a ton of other companies out there besides the 3-4 that are always mentioned.

Shelf life on this stuff is years. Can’t believe people buy for one trip, then sell it on the secondary market.

I agree ambush. But, I paid $2/apiece for the apple granola meals. I can’t buy plain granola for that.

I’ll gladly pay a couple bucks extra for the Peaks at 1.5-2x the calories over Mtn House. Usually some deals around if you look though. Quick search and at least a couple sites have the buckets 20% off with free shipping right now. Only flavor I absolutely can’t stand is Bison Ranch Mashers. Foul!

I’ve eaten several if not all the brands out there over the years. Peak Refuel is leading the pack on the flavor and variety categories. I usually get mine from scheels as it’s 10 minutes away from my house

Mountain House is still my favorite

In the pacific NW we have BI Mart stores. A couple times a year they have some great sales. Last spring I bought all my mountain house dinners for the year for between $6-$6.75 each

Sportsman warehouse has some good sales on Mountain House meals also.

REI used to be a good source during sales, but the normal price is so much higher the last couple years it’s not anymore.
