Tenzig customer service
Just had a very disappointing interaction with a rep over a Tenzig repair issue. When I purchased this high end carbon framed pack a large part of my decision was the “legendary Tenzig customer service”. Apparently Tenzig was bought out by GSM Outdoors around 2 years ago. They no longer offer repairs but instead a 30% discount on a new pack. This is the style of pack that unzips from the frame allowing large loads to be carried between the pack & frame. The zipper failed after only one trip and was never used to pack anything other than light hunting gear. I suppose I will have to find a local seamstress to make the repair now. Really makes you appreciate companies that still believe in customer service. I will be steering away from all brands under the GSM umbrella.
I appreciate the heads up on this, Basil. Given that experience, I'd never buy anything from them again either. Companies who don't stand behind their product tend to not have people lining up for their product eventually.
Is that the Busbice's company?
If your talking about a tenzing backpack, those where originally built by Plano. Which we all know as a junk building, not warranty covering company to begin with.
Basil, you could purchase a sewing awl kit from Amazon for under 15 bucks and do the repair yourself.
That's what I did when I put a stove jack in my Kodiak tent, works great.
A shame that a zipper that was never used fails after one light trip. The “male” tab of the zipper came off so now the zipper just splits apart. I had to sew it in place & hold it closed with a small zip tie rendering the expanding capacity useless. I would expect more from a $500ish pack. I will give props to companies with great customer service.
Great, and I just ordered a lumbar pack.
That’s how they get you comin back cradle to grave. Don’t ever buy any cuddecrap cameras, they do the same damn thing. Two pack companies that stand buy thier products are kifaru and badlands if your looking for a new replacement
I couldn't get replacement buckles out of them, terrible CS, I just ordered random parts of amazon
I never considered Tenzing a high quality product or company. Seemed like cheap entry level throw away type stuff to me, kinda what I would expect honestly. Sucks that you are in that position, but kinda what they are selling IMO.
If you want a decent pack in that price range I think Badlands are hard to beat. Kinda the Vortex of the pack world. Not that bad, great warranty cause you gonna need it. If you what a great pack from a great company gonna need to spend a bit more and buy Kifaru, SG, Exo, MR, etc.
Get an Exo Mountain Gear pack. Great customer service and products.
I agree with Jim. Honestly I'm surprised that a Tenzig pack goes for $500. Sucks.
Actually their 1250 lumbar pack is great and high quality but mine is old, quality might have changed when the company got sold. I actually bought 2 of them I liked them so much
Well, the new company isn't obligated to honor anything the other company did.
It's not their fault.
Got my Tenzing Flex pack yesterday, filled out the Return Request today, we’ll see what happens. Cheap buckles, cheap fabric and the bottle holder was sewn in backwards. Still looking for a TZ1250.
