When you find a great product, buy 2!

Over the years I have been frustrated at times when I have a great product and it either breaks or wears out and they no longer make it or they change it and make it worse- they change the features I LIKE about the product.
So this year I bought duplicates of 3 items that I found worked very well. A camo headnet that has a mouth hole that works great during the RUT for using a grunt tube. I found it also cuts down on condensation build up on the inside of the mask. I also bought another HSS Gear retriever and a second pair of camo gloves that is fingerless on the index finger and thumb.
From now on when I find an accessory that works great and I can not do without, I will buy a “backup!”
So true! I have bought duplicates of several things because I get used to them and know I'll probably never find them again. Usually simple stuff such as gloves or a hat.
I could probably make a list of things I WISH I had bought duplicates of and didn't.
Stan Perfex thumb release. I have a small collection. If anyone has on they would be able to part with let me know.

And then it gets lost, wears out, etc., your wife reminds you, “I told you to get two of them”
Me too btnbuck, and it would be a long list!
Butt outs and baker treestands
Easton Legacy arrows (Matt Burke and Owl will get this reference) lol
Had a hat like that, ugly camo but great fit, silent material, just enough warmth, breathable. I *think* it's on a hillside in Vermont...
Wise advice Perry. I was thinking about this very thing due to the thread on the Strapper retriever.
There have been a few things over the years that I wish I would've bought in duplicate but sometimes I find that the replacement is actually an upgrade.
I sold an original 1948 (first year) Harley Davidson, Panhead motor and tranny in a rigid frame chopper about 20 years ago. I couldn't replace the motor and tranny now for what I sold the whole bike for back then. That one is a bummer.
Yes, several things I should have purchased duplicates of but at the time you dont think much of it. Not only the strapper retriever, but some half face masks I used to like. Should have purchased a duplicate release as well, but expensive at the time to buy two. Oh well.
I have at least 2 of everything that matters. At my age the goal now is “lifetime supply”. However, I no longer buy green bananas. Ha!
I usually buy 2 pair of Lowa Renegades every year, because I'm afraid they may change or stop making them. Only boot I know of that I can hike infinate miles w/ no blisters.
Wish I would have bought more x-stand hang on stands. Love the easy hang bracket and weight, only bought two. Wish I had 2 more, and now they are out of business.
Agreed. There’s several things I figured even two wasn’t enough..so I have three. Ya just never know!
I don’t know if she would approve, but do wives count?
For me I always have a spare identical release, a head lamp, and knife.
Core4Element Assault shirt. By far my favorite piece of clothing for hunting/fishing.
At this stage of my life, I'm more concerned about getting rid of all the extra crap I've accumulated over the years, not getting more. However, I do have spares of certain items that would hamper a hunt if I lost or broke them, like a bow, release, binos, gloves, etc...
Matt
I have been doing this for many years now after a few times where they no longer made what I liked or changed it.
For me it was the crispi boots on clearance that someone posted a link to last year. Those boots are incredible and fit me perfect. Should of bought 3-4 pairs at that price. Can't find them anywhere now.
Chuckster, I bought a pair of those Crispi boots too, and wish I would have bought more, especially at that price.
Matt
Boots…. Yeah. They’ll always last just exactly long enough for the “new and improved” model to not fit right…. Right before the season. Or a week in.

You're so right. How many times have I asked myself ..why didn't I buy several
Yup, the Crispi boots. $69!! Wish I had bought 2 or 3 pair. They pop up on Camofire from time to time. A week or so ago they were listed for ~$170.
Nick Muche--I hope you also thought to pick up a second Deerview mirror! ;-)
Maybe an extra rctic cooler or two.
Don’t know if doing that means that I’m old or if it shows my wisdom. I’m going with the wisdom option.
Two is one, one is none!!!
Definitely wisdom Old School! ;-)
Only thing I WOULDN’T get 2 of is wife/girlfriend! I can barely manage the one I got now.........................
I'm the guy who shared the Crispi boot sale, and I also only bought one pair. I'm with Timex, and buy fishing lures that work. I have a stash of my go to lures and flies. I'm also with the guy who is trying to get rid of shit I don't use, and stuff I probably won't use.
about 20 years ago...i found a lady that had a large supply of new old stock bear razorheads and cards of bleeder blades. i bought two dozen and heads and 4 dozen bleeders thinking it would last my lifetime. down to about a dozen usable heads. if the dozen heads i have last another 20 years...i should be good. by far not the best heads out there...i just like using them.
Two is one, one is none!!!
i know a guy that stocked up on ammo after the shortage of 2020 & 2021. last i heard he was wondering how he would use it all.
"I have at least 2 of everything that matters. At my age the goal now is “lifetime supply”"
Me too Charlie, I feel the same way,,, except for firearms, I can always use another gun...8^)))
Before I retired I made sure that I had what I needed for quite a few years. Broadheads and ammo especially.
Yep, same here, been stocking up for current use and with retirement in mind.
Bowsite has retriever reel on site today , its a retractable one

Thought I'd bring this back up. Camo-Fire has Crispi boots on sale. I know quite a few of us picked up the Crossover Pro-Light GTX Hiker when Sportmens Warehouse had them on sale. Yeah, $175 doesn't compare to the steal of ~$69 at SW, but it's still a decent price. I've put quite a few miles on mine, hikes with 25-30lbs, just general knocking around and I like 'em. Alot.
I agree, I bought a pair of cheap light thin gloves that were fleece. They fit nice, were not too tight and for being thin, actually warm for long periods. These were like $2.00 at wallmart 20 years ago. I should have bought a case of them, the nicest hunting gloves I have found and cannot get them anymore. Been looking at others but they all seem tight and that is what seems to make your hands and fingers get cold fast.
I doubled up on First Lite Solitude bibs this season. Warm, quiet, great fit, and the f*cking burrs will brush right off!
