Anyone hanging out in line waiting for a Idaho tag? painful process! 6971 is my number in line... Can't remember where I was last year but do remember sitting here in front of the box until about 7 pm...
Been in line since 4:30 this morning. It’s a shit show!!
Does that help? I was under the impression that once 10 mountain time hits you are assigned a random number? regardless of what time you sign on?
oh i'm sorry you are physically in line...
I was 36,602 in line..I am no longer in line! Ha!
For whatever its worth it is going really fast this year... I know the "good" units are gone but.....
It’s a shit show. People buying tags for other people . Lady in front of me got 20 tags for friends out of state . No one should be able to buy a tag for some one else besides for your kids. Something needs to change . IMO
yep I was 29338 inline. J C
I'm glad that you were able to witness that... I agree something has to change.. I live a pretty simple life with limited technology and now that you mention the things that you have its clear there are others with much larger advantages in this system...
It is ridiculous they let people walk up and buy numerous tags. I could understand allowing an extra for a partner but really they should only sell to the person there in line.
I was 11967 when numbers were assigned. They only processed 202 in the first 30 minutes. That jumped to almost 1800 in the first hour. I reached the front of the line 40 minutes later. I was done within an hour and 45 minutes total. There were elk tags left, but mostly units I didn’t want. So I picked up my first choice deer tag and called it a win.
Magically pulled #19 this year and got the premium tag I use to be able to just buy with no problem.
But I agree this system is terrible and feel yalls pain as that was me every year since they created this mess
For this year, I’m just lucky
Nice sasquatch !!!
I was 32,332 and didn't wait around long knowing it was a hopeless case.
Congrats to those who got tags.
Cheers, Pete
I was 17k in line. The tag I used to get was sold out in less than 15 minutes...and the online que had only gone down by 90 people. So yeah, like was mentioned before, everyone at the counter was buying tags for others. It's the only way the math works out. So frustrating. I would've been up there in line had I not had a work commitment. The fact that IDFG knowingly puts people in the position to commute out of state and take time off work for a chance is a compelling case that their moral compass is BROKEN!
What a disaster, I remember the good old days driving 1100 miles out there in September and buying the tag over the counter. One year we called a local shop ahead of time and they held the tags for us. But that was 18 years ago ;) Haven’t even tried to go back since.
It was 5 or 6 years ago I would stop at a gas station on the way to my hunting spot and get my tag. I was 12868 today and got my tag but nobody else in my group did.
I was # 1769. A decent position most years. When my turn popped up it kicked me out and started over at place # 55,000+. It’s typically a disaster. Either their IT staff are morons or the state is too cheap to set up a system that can handle the demands.
Wonder if i will ever get an Idaho tag again...what a drag.

Idaho Game and fish fixed their system, it went super quick this year.
From what I saw, most of the halfway decent elk tags were gone in the first 20 minutes.
I had a number like 23,000+. Crazy way they do things. It would make sooo much sense to just make it random lottery but what do I know.
Plenty of ways they could sell the tags without unnecessarily creating frustrated customers.
A lot of the “demand” would be cured by having to log in under your user name then get in line
Currently there’s people logging on with god knows how many computers trying to up their odds!!
Just like the in person thing, people buying multiple tags for their buddies

The ability to buy multiple tags is ridiculous. I did not know that was possible.
The good old days - when we stopped in Blackfoot in the middle of archery season and bought our tags. To think that was only 5-6 years ago.
What a mess now days. I may never hunt Idaho again…
An example of Government at their best.
Pretty sure you can just go to place that sells tags in ID, walk in and buy a non resident tag when the tags go on sale. Beat all the odds online and just do that or have your buddy do it for you.
That needs to stop if they want the online system to work.
snapped up one of the better/best archery elk tags again this year. Always nice to have a for-sure hunt option on the books before the various western draws.
