Good karma that he got busted after trying to brag about it on social media. The lengths people will go to in order to get likes and comments is sad. I wonder what percentage of poaching cases are rooted in the fact that they want to get clicks and notoriety by exploiting a dead animal. Another example of why hunting social media is bad for hunting.
Well I guess his genes were never put out their and this deer could be a off spring. Can the dnr prove where the deer was killed? Is it not possible the deer left the property and roamed during the rut? Lots to prove other than a pic and if the suspect shuts his mouth I don’t see how they convict. Without his version they can’t prove it was a illegal kill , can they?
Lots of guys lie about where they shoot big bucks. Way too easy to loose hunting permissions, leases, encourage line sitters, and poachers. Seen all of these happen. As long as the tag is filled out properly it doesn't matter much what is posted of fb. With that said I'd imagine the department has already checked it out before going public with media.
there appears to be a lot of private land around hollywood cemetary in richmond va. some of it even appears to be crop land. who knows where the buck was and where hunter had permission to be.
I don’t have photos of it but early if not even pre internet days a famous giant 8 point was taken in NJ.
The buck lived in Bergen county in a ritzy unhuntable area… movie stars- professional athletes- captains of industry etc. It was easily identifiable always had a red coat even in winter and it carried a near 170” 8 point rack with 14/15” brow tines.
So guy kills the buck and someone dimes him out…
When the CO comes to the house to check it out the guy brings him to freezer and shows him the deer. All neatly packaged venison.
When the warded asked to see the antlers the guy responded he didn’t keep them… Did I legally have to keep them he asked..
Bou this was a mega popular buck in the area. Folks routinely took photos of him and they had pics of him in the cemetery the day before he was killed. The guy alleged he killed him 70 miles from the cemetery along with 2 other deer that were regularly seen in that buck's company......and this bozo couldn't post them on the internet fast enough! I mean you have to TRY to be that stupid. lol
Yep! In the post he made about killing Hollywood he mentioned it was his 3rd wall hanger of the season and posted them both to the Star City Whitetails page. They were big but very "standard" racks. Once he posted pics Hollywood it took about .3990059828 seconds for folks to put 2 and 2 together. He's gonna get hammered!
I'm of the belief one way or another your going to get caught... you have to think of the shame it would bring to your family, no less the shame to your reputation from there on. I have lost some good friends because of hunting ethics and lying... I may not have as many deer under my belt, but I have no trouble sleeping at night or enjoying my hard earned table fare. scentman
I was joking about that distance traveled, people are idiots trying to get away with this shit in the age of trail cameras. With the most recent big deer that have been poached, makes you wonder how many of the ones in the book from decades ago were poached, bc “before cameras”
I don’t doubt that this buck traveled 70 miles overnight. Just too bad it was in the bed of this dipshit’s truck. Never ceases to amaze me, the sheer stupidity of some people.
He'd of had to travel it overnight, he was filmed the day before near the cemetery and showed dead in the shooter's social media page in hero pictures the next day...
