Tried 4 more times last week to kill a goose but with the freezing temp, lakes and ponds frozen, the geese seem to have hibernated or left the area. Very few around until three days ago and now they are back but tough to hunt. More migratory geese than local geese. Hunted the blind at the far end of the pasture but the geese were shying away and not landing at all or out of bow range.

Yesterday a flock of 9 geese landed out of range and then drifted over to the adjacent property where they fed for the next hour.

was not long and geese showed. Teal was not happy to be in the truck. They landed within bow range.

Time to change tactic and move and set up the blind and decoys just behind the house next to the pine trees. as I did this morning

Been tough here in NW Ohio. You're doing great on them. Teal is looking like a well oiled machine, humming right along. You've done a good job training here sir!

Thanks guys for following along for the past year (s). It has been a pleasure to bring this Yard Hopper series to you. With 9 geese in the bag this year, I hope for one more goose this season, especially one more for Teal.
Next week I will start grinding goose meat for burger and jerky and chunk up for crock pot goose. The weather here around Ft. Collins CO has been warm and the geese are staying around. Todays temp was 50 degrees. See ya in the field. Paul and Teal
