Bears can be real assholes at times lol. This is the 3rd time over the years that these barrels ended up in the beaver pond.

Tom struggled this week with seeing bears. But that didn’t stop him by putting the hammer down on a mature boar on his last evening hunt. Congratulations Tom on your first ever Black Bear. I think he’s hooked for life now.

There’s a reason Jeff has a huge smile on his face. I’m sure most of you followed his hunt throughout the week. If you haven’t it’s best that you do. With only 4 hunters in camp this week Jeff waited till the last precious moments of his hunt to anchor this STUD. Congratulations Jeff. You toughed it out right to the dying last few minutes. That wraps up our first week of hunters. Great week with a great group of hunters.

Lucas’s first night of bear hunting is one he won’t ever forget. When I drove into the bait site to pick him and his grandfather up, I knew he threw some lead. You still can’t wipe the smile off his face. Congratulations on your first of many bears. He also made a fantastic shot and the bear died just out of site.

Tim didn’t waste anytime in the blind with his grandson. 2 hours after Lucas shot and Not wanting to be outdone by the new bear hunter he decided to shoot this great bear. Big gun = big hole. Bear didn’t go far.

Myles made his second trip up with us and brought his son along. Their plan was to leave camp a day early to make the long trip back home. So after we got the text bear down we headed to go pick him up and start the skinning and processing late that evening.

Mark Sr had an unbelievable sit on his last evening hunt. I told him either two things are gonna happen tonight. 1. They will come in early and feed before the storm hits or or 2. It’s gonna be a bust and they will wait it out till the storm passes. Well the bears choose option one. He had bears 10 minutes after I dropped him off and had 5 bears on the bait when this bruiser walked in. He stood motionless. With his bow already in his hands he waited for him to turn broadside. Shoots, wack. Only half arrow penetration. Get the text come quick, I’m covered in bears and not sure on the shot and it’s raining here. Pull up to the stand and he’s still standing there like he’s hunting. Motionless. Not coming down from the stand. Motion him to come down. Still nothing. Weird. What’s happening that I don’t see? Well shock took over…..or just that damn scared with all the bears everywhere. He did come down and we discussed what happened. Slowly following some blood, raining like beat hell I knew time was not on our side. I hurried the track job and started finding plenty of blood. Now it’s an easy trail to follow. Bump one bear thinking damn he’s still alive. Nope. Young bear looks healthy runs off. Then I see the bear laying there dead. Told Mark I think we’re gonna find him within 30 yards cause there is so much blood and he’s starting to dart a little. He has no idea I’ve already seen him. Give him the thumbs up and he breaks down in tears, or it was the rain I’m not really sure but man was he ecstatic. His last evening sit with only a couple hours left in his hunt and he makes it happen. 340lbs and bang on at 19” skull. A quick skin and processing job and it’s in the freezer ready for the ride home. That wraps up our second week with 7 for 7. Thank you to our repeat hunters and new friends with a great week of hunting.

Well that is it for our 2024 spring season. I’d like to thank all our clients that made the trip up here to hunt with us. We had so many great people that we can now call friends. We had a fantastic spring. I would say it was our best one ever and there are still many target bears still roaming the forest. I’d like to also thank our guides, Clair, Tyler, Leroy, Kurt and our 2 cooks Maria and Leslee. It took a lot of hard work and a great team to put together this years hunt.
We have 3 tags for this fall hunt. We are only hunting one week this fall. September 10-15th. Book your spot if you’re wanting a great wilderness hunting experience.
