Booked with MVO for Sept of 26 this weekend. I know several have hunted with them. Just looking for pointers and bits of wisdom for those that have been before. I’m honestly planning on driving. I’m pretty excited so post pics and tips. Thanks

I’ve been 7×1st time was 2000 last time was 2022. In 2022 we tried to book again for 2025 and he was already full so we also booked for September 2026 at Island Pond with another bowsiter and his father, who we hunted with in 2022

I’ve been fortunate to take Moose bear and Caribou. There also a couple Moose with the gun.

I don’t know that you’ll find a better operation than the one Dean established and Johnny has taken over and continued to run exceedingly well

They do it right and historically the guides and support staff at the camps have all been either family or very very close family friends and many of them have been there for decades

It’s not an easy hunt in that it’s not a truck hunt, or an ATV hunt, or a logging road hunt

You’re flying in and then it’s all done based on hiking from camp and accessing various areas from the boat

You’ve made a great choice and will have a great time

The fact he was booked out three full years before the 2022 season was even over was amazing. We really wanted to go back in 2025, but took the next available slot which was in 2026.

It seems like from what I hear most the other newfoundland outfitters seem to be able to take guys on a much shorter timeframe than that but Moose valley is a small operation just four guys per week at one camp and three guys I believe in their second camp and that’s it. And they no longer hunt the bow only weeks so it’s basically a five or maybe six week season for them.

They know bowhunting there’s no question about that but I would imagine at this point that rifle hunters make up at least 80% of the client list if not more The fact Johnny is the pilot is a big benefit, or can be, if there are weather issues. he is obviously getting his camps up and running first before dealing with his charter accounts at other camps.

Bou not gonna lie you’re the main reason I went with them. I was honestly hoping the other guy in camp was you LOL. I’m going to be in the 3 person cabin from the sounds of it Sept 20-27. I’m planning on archery hunting but I feel like he said I could pack a rifle as well. I am super excited for these next few years as I’ve got some great hunts lined up.

Going back again for a third time this fall (9/29-10/6).

I have been lucky enough to hunt with some great outfitters. Moose Valley is one of them.

Have fun! Mike

If you guys that have been could pick the best week to bow hunt NF, which week would you pick and why?

Last week sept or first oct. good rut timing and will never be too hot

Honestly, though the best week is the one that doesn’t have hurricane impact because that’s always a risk
