Fawn are in heat and the bucks are still going at it! Ripping up the branches and bark on the trees and marking turf!

When do your bucks drop their antlers? Most of ours lost their headgear right around February 1st.

In WI it seems later and later. Used to be when we had real winter, sometimes late season in Dec, there would be shed bucks already. Now my cameras show they hold sometimes until March and beyond. Dont know why other than weather.

I had eight bucks behind my house in Kentucky yesterday, two were probably 3.5 year olds and the rest youngsters. A few were sparring. Seven of them were still carrying both antlers and one had lost a side.

Some bucks are still fully crowned... On antler shedding timing, check out the "Annual Shed Thread":

I did a drive-thru of Cades Cove TN in March of 2011. Counted 160 plus deer in the fields. There were at least 30 branch antlered bucks visible and roughly half those were carrying only one antler. I've killed full shed bucks in mid December and found sheds before Christmas. It seems like shedding starts mid December and runs through March

Sometimes even into April...

Fuzzy x2 in these parts. I’ve had horns pop off when dragging in mid December. And, watch full horned bucks dog dies in February. Not uncommon to see horned bucks in March when turkey scouting.
