We have been out a few times this year and my son has had a couple of good shoots. We’re hoping to add some more throughout the summer. Hopefully he lets me shoot a few too.

Do you have a good use for those carcasses? Every time I think about bowfishing, I wonder what the hell I would do with them….

The river we normally blowfish was too low early in the spring, now it's too high. Nice hall there.

If the water’s clean enough to eat them, that’s a whole lot of meat there!
Most places I have lived, carp are usually on the Do Not Eat list…. Especially the bigger ones. And my yard is not big enough to bury them…

Big difference between the omnivorous common carp and the plankton eating bighead carp. No comparison except for having "carp" in their name.

Yes huge difference!

Just TRAGIC that you can’t catch ‘em on flies….
But bowfishing will do. I think there are a few places in-state where they were stocked (sterile individuals, I think) to clean up some weed issues and now the DEEP is trying to get people to catch & remove them…. Those are probably Amurs, though….
Hmmm….

Coral those are triploid grass carp. Also way different than plankton eating bigheads.

Grass carp are a blast to shoot but I won’t be eating one anytime soon…

We've eaten them and the meat is very good. I need a few of the guys on here to give me an in person lesson on cleaning around those bones sometime. I'm tired of my phone stinking while I watch YouTube videos while I try to clean them. The rest get fed to m a friend's pigs and compost pile at his farm. We're pretty lucky that's on our way home from the river.
T-roy, we shot them from a boat. I welded a platform out of my kids old trampoline. The welds on it would make a shop teacher cry, but it's redneckery has served us pretty well.

Ha!…I’m a bit of a mud dauber myself, when it comes to welding.
