I'm up in Montana on a mini vacation. Came across mama bear and 3 cubs.. pretty cool.

Recently watched the show "Nature", "Grizzly 399: Queen of the Tetons" and they were saying most cub mortality is due to male grizzlies killing the cubs... I knew males would kill the cubs but hadn't realize they killed so many...

Here is a Yellowstone grizzly sow with 5 cubs... Wonder how many the boars are going to get?

The males will kill the cubs in order to mate again. Cubs stay with the sows for 2 years before she pushes them out, She will not go back into estrous until they are gone.
