New Bowthech Honor
Equipment

Just got an email from Bowtech on this thing. Looks impressive, but $4000 for a bow? Anyone ordered done?
I won’t be spending $4 grand on a bow.
4k for a bow, they are out of their flipping minds!
It’s a 25th anniversary special edition honoring some type of heroes. Money raised to be donated to an organization.
I also received the email. The accompanying video states for 25 years, BowTech’s unwavering focus has been to create products “for the people “. It goes on to say this bow is a tribute to those who “brought us to this moment.” Apparently, their thanks “to the people“ is to introduce a bow that starts at $4000. Gee, thanks! They do say they are proud to donate a portion of the proceeds to Folds of Honor.
My guess is most of these will be bought as fundraisers for auctions.
Good for them. They'll sell them all. I have bowhunting friends who buy auction tags and Governors tags every year, for whom that's just walking around money. Adding that to their weapon collection will be a souvenir.
That magnesium riser will double as a fire starter… lol
It better come with a guided elk hunt
Maybe one day of a guided elk hunt....

Detailed write up - "According to senior director of product management Jeff Suiter, the research and development team at Bowtech discovered a supplier that creates a proprietary alloy that includes magnesium, aluminum, and rare earth elements. This specific magnesium alloy has been used in the aerospace industry and has only recently become available at the consumer level, according to Bowtech.
In short, the strength-to-weight ratio is far superior to any riser material that Bowtech has ever used before. "
Sounds like the same material Expedition archery uses in their high end bows. They call it magnite.
that is the smoothest, quietest, deadest in hand, most balanced bow they ever made and the limbs won't break very much so it's worth it.
Comes fully rigged; sight, rest, stabs, quiver, a custom Pelican case, and stand. Made as a limited-edition collector's item.
Even though it's "for charity ", you can buy 2 top flight Hoyt's for that.
A bare RX8 is two grand. With top line accessories you'll be pushing three. To me, it seems pretty sleazy to add $1000 to the retail price of something and donate the increase to charity.
I like Tim's comment though...
I don’t follow why that’s sleazy.
This thread is proof positive that there’ll always be a critic. Good deeds, bad ones, there’ll always be a critic.
Where does it say how much goes to charity
“But that cost includes Bowtech’s very best features like DeadLock, TimeLock, and GripLock, “
They omitted brainlock
I shoot old recurvebows....to each their own.

Let's say I sell widgets. I sell them for $100 and I do alright but I want to sell more of them. I advertise that for every widget I sell I'll donate $25 to a certain popular charity. Then I raise the price to $125 per widget. My widget buyers are making the donation, not me. I still take 100% of my normal profits and hopefully have more sales. Not exactly the most altruistic approach.
if they had said what the contribution to the charity is please share if they haven’t you know why

Actually, you still are. You also get the benefit when you file taxes...
I dont have an issue with the price. I wont be investing 4k in a bow, but if someone wants too - have at it.
Curious though, besides being light, are there other benefits to the material they used on the riser? Admittedly all I've done is skim this thread and look at the pics, so maybe there are other differences - cam or something... But at a glance, it looks like other recent Bowtech's.
Wow....that would buy a lot of beer and pizza.
