I was in my basement cleaning a bit and picked up my old Oregon Deschutes hanging there. Was wondering how many here shot an Oregon Bow back in the day. Tough bow. Anyone remember their ads showing one being shot after a truck ran it over? I understand the owner of Oregon Archery died in a plane crash. I do know of one famous Bowsiter from Colorado that took a bunch of critters with one!!

I own one. Bought it in North shore Massachusetts (maybe MCS Archery). A beast of a bow for sure.

Never heard anything about the brand since I read this just now.

I remember those bows. I also remember High Country Bows. Never shot one though. I was shooting a Martin Cougar fast flight around that time.

Had one. Drove down to the BowRack from BC and bought one. I did not shoot it that well so borrowed it to my BIL where someone stole it. I have a bunch of old bows but do occasionally miss that one :)

I had one and killed several deer with it. It was a good bow.

Paul , Boy, does that bring back some good memories. I killed the Colorado big eight big game species with that same bow. I liked the look of the recurve bow limbs. Yea, the founder of the company and his son were out flying and scouting for elk and they crashed; neither survived. The company was purchased and the new owner tried but did not succeed. I ended up giving that bow, arrows, case, for a youth raffle at the CBA banquet years ago. The 8th animal I needed was a Colorado bear and I almost used a different bow but tuned up the Deschutes, use aluminum arrows and NAP BH, and went bear hunting. I called this bear in with a predator call, and shot it at 20 yards. Retired the bow but still have good memories of that bow and the Colorado big eight. My best, Paul

I never owned an Oregon but I remember watching Roger Raglin using them on his earliest videos. I absolutely loved his old stuff before he started shooting fish in a barrel. I was a young impressional kid and I remember thinking that those bows had to be awesome because I saw VHS guys using them. I started out shooting an XI Impact and soon was shooting a Martin Cougar with Mega Cams during that time period.

I remember when I bought the XI Myles Keller legend bow. The first bow I paid over $200 for. New a couple people who shot the Oregon bow also.

My dad shot a high country that looked similar to that.

I was one of their first dealers when I had my shop. I ordered a tricked out one with wood inlays with 100# pull.

I thought they were nice bows. Pretty expensive for the time. There was an archery shop in NC that sold them. I asked to see one and the guy hands it to me. I hand it back and he sets it back in the rack. A minute later the entire rack holding about 8 Oregon bows falls to the floor. The bow seemed pretty heavy too. Is that a check it bow site on that bow. My cougar magnum had a check it sight on it years ago.

Pretty cool guys!! Yes I believe Cobra site and TM Hunter rest. Definitely a heavy bow compared to today’s bows.

I've still got a old PSE Carrol laying around. It's very similar it appears. Did kill a cow elk with it way back. Then I bought a Mathews just to be a contrarion in Tucson . ;)

Yep, still have mine hanging in the shop. I shot 3D and killed lots of deer and squirrels with it. My son used it to take his first archery whitetail.

I had them HCs if I'm remembering correctly American used to make their risers back in the day. That Oregon riser sure has a familiar shape to one could be wrong

I remember seeing them at a little shop in a small mill town here in MA that I used to go to. I wanted one, but didnt have the cash at the time.

My favorite old bow was a Pearson Renegade. I still have it in my basement decades later.

Didn’t they offer a model called the Black Knight? Seems like it was the first bow to claim 300fps?

Had one in the early 90s. Great bow til the limbs blew. Made a Frankenbow from it in '97 and killed a (literal) ton of game with it. Gave it away a couple months ago to a young fella with good shoulders.
