Two U.S. Senators in bipartisan work stopped the importation of beef from Paraguay because hoof and mouth disease is a frequent occurrence in that country, For the last twenty-five years. Since 1997, a ban on beef importation from Paraguay has been in place, however, last year the USDA lifted the ban. What the USDA did not do is send agents to the country to inspect the beef industry practices and determine the virus is eradicated, as it is in the U.S. , since 1929. Using data from ten years earlier was an unwise choice that almost allowed the virus to travel to America. Under the CRA(Congressional Review Act) written and passed in 1996 the ability of Congress to block Federal administrative regulations was enhanced and has seldom been used, and in some cases, rejected by presidential override. As a part of the Contract For America the CRA intent was to hold the government administrative state accountable and prevent harm in regulations that seemingly are good to the “experts”, yet missing the mark of what’s good for America. Democrat Jon Tester from Montana and Republican Mike Rounds from South Dakota are to be thanked by all Americans for their work on protecting America.
Deer sicken from hoof and mouth disease, some die, and Americans can suffer from poor choices in who runs the country. Oh yeah, the big beef industry was watching out for their share of the market with an eye out for the safety of their product in the hands of Americans, who don’t have the time to monitor the details of government operation, or better said in this case, malfeasance. The FDA did admit their lifting of the ban might allow the virus to come to America. The billions of dollars in damage to our economy by their decision would be coming our of the pockets of everyday Americans.
Thank God, somebody cares about political things.
The US wants disease in the cows and chickens so they can wipe them all out to go along with all the sketchy fires at farms.

Deer hunting is multi-billion dollar industry. Not sure how it breaks down by State. This move protects a lot of livelihoods as well as our health.
I see I misspoke in the last paragraph. Instead of USDA I wrote FDA, sorry.
