When using a hang on style stand with sticks I’d guess the vast majority of hunters put their stand on their back while climbing the tree. What do you do about your pack? Do you attach it to a haul line or wear it also on your back?

I make a loop in my haul line about 3 feet above the bow clip. I keep small carabiner on my pack and attach my pack to the loop. I then pull up my bow and pack at the same time.

I have a sling pack that you can move to your front. I don't wear a bino harness so that is unused real estate. It's small so doesn't get in my way. Also use my cargo pockets for stuff on my pants.

Sometimes I use a hip pack. Very convenient if you’re not carrying too much stuff. For longer sits I do what blood suggested above, pull up pack with my bow.

Using a top loading pack became a requirement for me when my zippered side loading pack dumped most of the contents to the ground below. Mine is a medium army Alice pack that nests nicely on my treestand. I hoist up my pack with the bow dangling below it.

I use a fanny pack that I've worn in the front at times but now just wear it as is supposed to be worn and then put on my stand over it. It works as most of my hikes aren't too far for hang and hunts

I use the Mystery Ranch Treehouse 38-I love it.

Thank you all for the feedback. I’m toying with the idea of the LWCG Half Bred and placing it the sling orientation while climbing.

Check out the Maxpedition Sitka Gearslinger. Wear in the front or back. You can change it's position even while climbing in the tree.

Badlands, Monster Fanny pack works great for a stand on the back

Both haul line and on my back. Just depends on how how I got prepped for entry.

Windwalker treestand has its own backpack. Stand fits inside the pack. I have one. Take the sticks off at the bottom of the tree, and then climb up with pack on my back. Unzip the stand compartment, remove stand and attach. Extremely lightweight and easy to use. I also have another one of their packs without the stand. I use it for my saddle setup when I decide to go that route.

Treehopper LLC has started producing the windwalker and the pack again. You have to contact them as it's not on their website, but pricing is on par with the market, and well below LWCG, beast, etc.

I use a Fish Pod trout fishing vest. I don't carry the kitchen sink, just small essentials, and minimum movement in getting something out.

Pack is attached to the haul line with the bow and pull it all up.

Mystery Ranch treehouse x3 great pack for the tree multiple sizes

I have 2 haul lines. One goes from my belt to my bow and one goes from my bow to my pack. I make one trip up the tree hanging the sticks with my stand on my back. I set my stand, climb in, pull my bow up and hang it and then remove the second haul line from the bow, pull my pack up and hang it. It works well for me and an extra haul line is not much to carry. I use the rubber coated wire gear ties on the end of my haul lines. My haul lines are flat cord, I think Hawk makes them.

For my long, cold day sits in the Edmonton Bow zone, I need a compromise of quiet and space for all my gear…I am going to try the MR Treehouse 38 this year.

And the pack will be on by back on the way up the tree. My bow I will attach to the treestand bowline and I hoist it up once I am mostly organized up top. :)

Mystery Ranch PopUp is still the best pack I’ve ever seen for hauling stands, sticks and gear and hunting. My priorities being hauling the stand comfortably and QUIETLY, and then also ease of attaching and dissembling stack and sticks from said pack.

Shedhead, I practically own the entire Asio line with the exception of this pack, I have five different packs and have really been tempted to buy this one. What I can comment on is the high quality of every item I have purchased and how directly the owner Joe Miles is involved, especially with any warranty concerns.

If you are asking how other folks get the stand up the tree... I haven't used one in several years (all sadddle) but in the way back I used to have a separate tote line to the stand and haul it up, place it, and then haul up my hunting stuff when set. Pack on my back the whole time.

The last time, I shifted to using about a foot and a half long loop of paracord through a carabiner which I'd taped over (to make it more quiet). I had the cord looped to my pack. So the stand sort of hung just below the stand around my hips. When ready for it, I just unhooked the carabiner and could strap it on.

If you are just talking about packs, that's really personal I think. I know a lot of folks love mystery ranch (as noted above)... I've been super happy with my Kuiu the past few years. I literally used a 15 dollar walmart pack for like 25 years and it was great. I think it just comes down to whether it fits your style.

I just have a fanny pack. Don't need that much gear for a whitetail hunt. Stand goes right over the fanny pack no problem.
