Do any of you use this scent eliminating system?

I watched their infomercial on Pursuit and thought it might just be some gadget that's the cost of a time share.

I do not use one or am planning to, just wanted feedback from those who care to admit using one.

They been out a long time now. I don't use one myself, but know of 2 hunters who do, and they swear by them. But they hunt from pop up blinds, and only hunt deer, in Wisconsin.

I have 1.I think there's something to it but "forget the wind" is just for advertising ,obviously wind direction when bow hunting is paramount

While I don’t use a unit on stand, I did begin using an ozone closet, home built, with small ozone generator for my clothes. Seemed to have positive results last year, well enough I’ll try again this year.

I have read that they are very effective in enclosed blinds, probably due to the small space to neutralize.

Are they safe in those close quarters?

Here we go again. The ozone or triatomic oxygen they produce does destroy molecules and odors. It also destroys lung tissue. At a concentration needed to destroy odor it is harmful for humans. That info comes from the American Lung Association and H & S specialists.

So use it to destroy your odor in clothing, gear, etc. don't occupy the space where the ozone is generated. Deer are very keen to a person coughing, sneezing etc.

Learn how to use the wind to your advantage, stay still. If you do, you can have a deer a few feet away from you just like I do during turkey season while using my dedicated permethrin , DEET treated camo.

Good post Tony, that begs the question. How can they sell a harmful product and who would risk lung damage just to kill a deer? scentman

I use what's supposed to be scent suppressing hunting clothing ...does it work...I don't know ... If you think about it ....before "our" time....how did the bowhunters kill game without the newest greatest camo or scent hiding clothing?

I used one a few years ago - had the following encounters.

The first one - in a tree stand about 20 yards off the field edge - with the ozonics above me. Doe and fawn came out into the field at about 50 yards.

When they hit down wind of me (very light wind, maybe 3 to 5 mph) they both lifted their heads at the same time and looked in my direction. The fawn sniffed a few times went back to feeding. The doe, neck stretched out - sniffed several times over about 3 to 4 minutes. Then went back to feeding.

She definitely changed directions and slowly walked straight away as she fed.

2nd encounter I was in a ground blind that I had set out 3 weeks earlier. I placed the ozonics in the window on the down wind side.

A small buck came out walking left to right. I watched it slowly walking and feeding.

When it hit my down wind it lifted its head - same as the doe - stood still for a few minutes continually smelling. It didn't spook, instead it followed the sent from almost 100 yards right up to with-in about 15 yards of my blind. Then just went back to feeding and walked off.

I quit using it because it was just another item to screw with.

Those were the only 2 times that I can say that it actually worked - kind of.

I’ve had great luck with them out of stands on bears

I use Ion generators much much better, smeller and longer battery life

For every guy that claims "by gawd he was dead downwind and just stood there" ....I've got ten encounters of the same thing and I'm actually on the ground looking at the deer in bow range with no ozonics

I have one and my experience has been positive overall. I still hunt the wind, but sometimes it changes and making a move to a different stand just isn't possible. Most deer smell the ozone & maybe even me a little, but usually they go back about their business. Perhaps they think I'm farther away than what I am,

There is a mature industry for using generated ozone to remove odors from enclosed spaces. I think they have benefits for odor removal from clothes, boots, packs, and other items that can absorb odors. I Will periodically put my hunting clothes and boots in my truck cab and it does a pretty good job removing odor. Inhaled ozone is a real health hazard and ozone generators will contain a warning to this affect. You can buy small rechargeable ozone generators online. Expect to pay a lot more for any ozone generator that has a picture of a deer on it. I don’t think ozone generators can be very effective outdoors due to wind currents where your scent is not aligned with the ozone cloud being generated.

CPSC may have posted recalls and warnings on them.

However, they are probably more busy writing technical papers on why you gas stove should be taken away from you.

I sampled a number of companies for O3 as an industrial hygienist. Usually when they were above OSHA or voluntary standards it was a ventilation issue.
