Peeing on the Fire & Calling the Dogs !
Equipment

Due to aging and health issues, I am facing some realities of life. I have enjoyed bowhunting for 66 years. But as Dirty Harry once said, “A man has got to know his limitations.” It’s therefore time begin liquidating much of my acquired archery/bowhunting inventory that I no longer need. All items are in good condition, and some have never been used. I have compiled a very lengthy listing of items. Items include bow accessories, fletching equipment and broadheads. I will be happily to provide photos or answer questions about items. If you have interest, please “Private Message” me to include your email address or text number and I will send you a listing. Please feel free to share with your bowhunting friends who may not be a part of the Bowsite.com family. Due to the high cost of postage and handling, I am restricting a minimum acceptable mail order to $15. Payment methods are PayPal or cash. After payment is received, I will ship item(s).
thats tough to do i'm looking ahead at 69yo. PM sent
I get that. Some of my fishing rods refuse to talk to me anymore...
Many items have already sold. If you are interested, let me know !
Yeah, I totally get it. My hunting partner of 30 plus years just told me 4 days ago, due to health issues, he can no longer chase up and down the mountains.
I am sorely going to miss him come September 1st.
Sooner or later, Father Time catches up to all of us, (except Paul). Hate to hear it Greg, I know you enjoyed it. Good luck getting rid of your stuff. For those who don’t know, Greg is a meticulous guy, and I’m certain his “stuff” is in great condition.
At 75, I have down sized also. Sold alot of stuff at Sportsmen Rummage Sales, and at Trad shoots.
However another idea is to also donate. I have given equipment to 4H clubs, kids archery at local clubs etc. Passing on the stuff, I know many who appreciated it.
I have some old Bear bow quivers for sale while we're at it.
I’m 73, been bowhunting 46 years. Hoping to go a few more years. But it’s getting a lot tougher.

I’ve been selling stuff and giving stuff away. I simply don’t need all the junk I collected.
Very sad to hear. I hope things sell easily, but I also hope some how you can get outside this fall or even just help process friends/family members deer to keep at it in some ways.
Sure hate to hear that Lord willing I’ll be 78 in November and it won’t be long I’ll be in that same boat.My grandson lives in Greenville,Ms .He might be interested in a few things.Good luck Lewis
Sorry to hear this but 100% understand. I pre-paid a dumpster for when I go. Ha Ha! The reality is 100% of our stuff will be tossed, given away or sold. Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think.
Charlie….that is exactly what I did. Told my kids take what you want, give away what you want to anyone interested, and finally throw in the dumpster! I’m going to fight the battle not knowing what the expiration date is to be, but love everyday.
I used to be in good shape, period... now, at 71 they say that I'm just in good shape for my age! In all seriousness though, age and health problems have affected me a lot too. I can relate to Greg and others in similar situations because I've been thinking of selling some of my big mechanical stuff that I seem to have too much of now... especially stuff that needs maintenance.
Hate to hear that, Greg. I remember meeting you briefly at PnY Omaha. Hope you'll still stick around here. Always enjoy your posts.
Charlie,
Thanks for your kind words. When you liquidate, the vultures are already circling to have a shot at Sitka warehouse !
Echo what Midwest said. The price of wisdom is high. And by the time you've gained that wisdom you only have a short window to use it.
Hope your next chapter includes continuing to share that wisdom on here.
Greg, I'm sorry to hear that but completely understand. I'm starting to shed stuff too. After developing suspected Pulmonary Hypertension, then having a major TIA a couple weeks ago at 70, I will however I can for as long as I can, but fear the end is near. My lifelong hunting partner reached that point about five years ago.
Now I have to figure out what to do with a half dozen well-used custom longbows and recurves I haven't sold. Cosmetically they show signs of having been hunted hard, but they are still shooters. I may just give them away to a younger bowhunter.
Good luck with your efforts and your future, Greg. You're good guy. Glad I had a chance to meet you!
Buffalo1, I hear you loud and clear. I feel the pain associated with your thread title as at 86 years old in two months I think that I'm there also. Started bowhunting at about 16 with a fiberglass stick bow and have a bunch of old compounds around that my offspring can have. I have pretty well outfitted them with appropriate equipment already because my old bows are too heavy for most of them (I shot my bows at 76 lbs. for over 40 years). Hope that you made out ok selling your stuff. Your post was sad but so true. I think that it caused the dream I had last night about going elk hunting with my son. We were going bowhunting on the first day of the Colorado elk season but we couldn't find my bow or accessories. My best, Badbull.
