I should have enough points for a guided hunt next year in the north west region of Colorado.
Which 5 days/dates of the season would you choose to hunt? Why?

JMO but you are really screwing yourself out of a great experience if you limit yourself to 5 days. I totally get it-- if 5 is what you can carve out and nothing more, 5 is what you have. If at all possible, I'd try double the number of days you plan to hunt. To answer your question, I'd choose 15-20ish if I only had 5 days. But... your hunting style may differ than mine too- if you like to sit water/wallow, I'd go earlier than that.

How many points do you have? What unit are you looking at? Know that the rut happens late over there.
FYI, it is much easier to get a new job than to draw one of those units. No way would I limit myself to five days. I would figure out a way to carve out at least 10 days, minimum, or wait until I could. You could have five days of bad weather. After we killed our bulls and left in 2013, it rained for seven solid days, roads turned to gumbo, and hunting would have been limited to walking out of camp.
BTW, guided hunts in Unit 2 are running around $20K this year.

The northwest units that were wiped out 2 winters ago?

Definitely more info needed to give any proper suggestions. NW as in unit 2? Or are we talking 3,4,5,441? Big difference there. But I agree, if it’s unit 2 you need waaay more than 5 days which will be costly to do with a guide.

As others have stated the key here is whether you're looking at Units 2, 10, and 201, or one of the many other units in the northwestern part of Colorado. I'm assuming archery since this is Bowsite, but you didn't specify. I think you will also find there are some less expensive options in those units if you draw your own tag and hunt with a guide on public. Anything with a landowner tag or RFW will be over 20K for sure. Agree strongly that if you draw one of the big 3 units you should do whatever you can to hunt more than 5 days.

I agree with above. I think the biggest mistake re: archery elk hunting is not allowing enough days (especially DIY). About nothing worse than having to drive away from an area when they are bugling up a storm (this can happen on the day you are scheduled to leave as I can attest).
