Listened to the Hoyt bow hunting podcast, with Danny Farris and Evan Williams over the weekend and they made the announcement John Dudley made the move back to Hoyt…

He left Sitka for Origin as well. Hoyt and Origin kinda go together, I guess. Rogan, Cam, Jocko...

Yes Nick he said that on the podcast as well..

That’s great news for us all.. should “Lift” sales. Ha Ha..

Who is Dudley?

From: Blood
12-Aug-24
Sitka is going out business or changing directions and PSE wouldn’t let him design his own bow technology with the new management group. So it just made sense for him to move over to Origin and back to Hoyt. He does alot for the bowhunting community.

"Sitka is going out of business"

Where did you hear this?

Sitka will be in the Meateater family before you know it.

"Who is Dudley?"

He's associated mostly with archery stuff, not political, so you probably wouldn't be interested.

Whether for money or because he likes em, whatever. Good on him, and hopefully, it helps him keep putting out helpful information. I really like his shooting and tuning stuff in particular!

I had a similar reaction of Dud returning to Hoyt as I did listening to him at P&Y….

lol I was trying to find a way to tie his speech into this thread, t-roy. You integrated them perfectly lol

If owning a Mathews wasn't bad enough, t-roy is no longer part of the Nock On nation for his antics. :)

Yep...one long, drawn out life story for sure!

What kind of compensation would he get from Hoyt? Does he actually get paid, or just Equipment?

This is so exciting!!!

Dudley has an estimated net worth of $18.4 million. So any little bit of sponsor income, no matter how trivial, helps keep him off the street.

T-Roy, you’re the best!! LOL

From: midwest

I don't care what he shoots or wears for camo as long as he keeps putting out all the free excellent archery instruction like he has been doing for the last several years. He's a great promotor and representative of archery, bowhunting, and healthy living.

12-Aug-24
Yep, good for him. Someone paying him to shoot their bow. Hoyt must have pretty thick margins in those things after all. :>)))

12-Aug-24
T-Roy for the win. It was excruciating listening to him at the convention.

From: Blood
12-Aug-24
I don’t know what he gets paid. But I would take a stab and say a five year contract worth $500k plus bonuses for the bows he promotes and/or designs. Plus full exclusivity to design new technology for Hoyt bows. He made mention he’s taking less money in these two future endeavors to finish his career.

No idea on pay with Origin. It’s gotta be decent. That company is growing and needs some help. I’ve seen their products and I don’t care for any of them compared to what else is on the market. He went there to boost their sales. I believe Sitka is going to revamp their product line or sell off. There’s a lot of talk that Sitka is having cash flow and inventory issues. Why would he leave Sitka if he didn’t know where they were headed??

I did not know the profit margins were that high for compound bows. Good for him

I have a few products from Origin

The quality seems high. I like this compressed wool jacket

A few years ago I owned an archery only pro shop, complete with 20 indoor shooting lanes, and had the Matthew's and PSE product lines. Attended the PSE Dealers School in Tucson.....the whole works. At that time, it was general knowledge among dealers that the average cost of manufacturing a compound bow was around 20% of suggested retail price. It's doubtful that has changed very much since then.

From: carcus
13-Aug-24
Cool, hopefully he will push hoyt to make a better bow, better and easier tuning and a more adjustable cam! Hoyt makes a decent bow but there is much better options out there now

How hard is it to believe that Sitka could go out of business? They sell over priced clothes to a dying breed of people us hunters.

From: Bowfreak

spike,

It is not hard to believe that anyone could go out of business but just stating something on the internet doesn't make it so.
