Killing Japanese clover in clover plot

Japanese clover has exploded in my clover plot, been mowing high to keep weeds down and 2-4-Db. Cleth earlier on the grass, things were going great until the Japanese clover exploded. I’ve battled this stuff in the yard and its a woody legume so 24db isn't going hurt it. Thinking let it die with the frost and a pre-emergent next spring. This plot was doing fairly well so I thought.
