It seems every few shots I need to screw in my field points in a little bit to snug them back up. I was thinking on using some string wax on the threads to stop this. Didn't really wanna use loctite. I know there are different strengths of loctite, just didn't want to go that route if I didn't have to. What do you do to prevent this?

String wax....

String wax, problem solved.

Yep, string wax is all you need.

Buy the field points with the rubber grommet. They will not come loose. There’s a bunch on Amazon. Good luck.

Go to ace hardware and get O-rings that fit.

Just a drop of your ol lady's finger nail polish on the threads will work

...but don't let her see you do it, nor get any on your toenails!

string wax or use something else that is less handy and/or more expensive if you prefer.

Meat Grinder's Link
Saunders Archery used to sell thin spring-steel washers made to keep your points tight, but their website doesn't list them anymore. They do offer a 100 pack of rubber o-rings for $14.95 to do the job. A 10 pack at Lowe's, etc. would run ~$3.00. See the link. Good Hunting!

Thanks guys, I'll give the string wax a go.

I use string wax as well. I have to use pliers sometimes to twist them out.

String wax is good. So are right-wing feathers. Left tend to loosen up your points. Unless I’ve got that backwards….. ;p

Teflon thread tape as Boatman71 mentioned...

The points with the rubber O-ring around the un-threaded shaft have worked best for me.

20-Aug-24
Was it ‘bou’s sincere response that settled you on the string wax?

21-Aug-24
And FWIW, a tiny amount of hot-melt on the threads is probably as permanent as non-permanent gets. Yes, you have to heat your points to get them loose. That’s not all bad.

I just retighten every few shots and make sure insert is still good and no damage to shaft .

My experience has been it doesn’t matter whether you use right or left wing fletch. The points will still come loose unless you use one of the mentioned remedies.

Quick little twist when ya knock the arrow, problem solved

It is nice to see an example of what I first came here for. There were a lot of different opinions offered based on experiences and no bickering. I like the string wax option myself. Bob
