The last few years I’ve been saving my elk round roasts until August and making homemade jerky on the Traeger to have for elk camp. Anyone else busy making jerky, bars, homemade frozen meals etc? It’s almost here gents.

Thank god this wasn't a political post. LOL
Looks YUMMY! I used to love prepping jerky and pre made dishes for elk season.....not so much this year.
Enjoy!

It always amazes me how much work and time goes into those batches and how small and quickly they go when they are done......

Check out the price of jerky in the grocery store. It costs a fortune.

Been drying jerky since yesterday and eating like crazy. When I finally quit eating I realize I just ate a whole deer hindquarter. Now it’s waterpik time to get all of it out of my teeth

Does anyone have a good jerky recipe for the air fryer? I’m looking for simple and convenient. I do have a smoker but just don’t have the time to do it “properly.” I’m open to any suggestions, got plenty of elk meat from last year to cook up. Thanks!
The link above looks quite simple but almost too easy. Anxious for some feedback.

Yup. About 4 # of venison. Shrinks down to 3 quart bags of finished goodness. With the 2 guys I go with it will be gone in 2 days…

Well that's something I've never seen before. Do the jalapeno slices stay attached when they're done?

Nice! Not for elk camp, but I did make some whitetail jerky the other day. I tried using fish sauce as a marinade for the first time. It was actually quite good! It all turned out great. When I processed, I went ahead and sliced up into strips and packed specifically to make jerky or Fajitas.

Note to self… Cook the marinate OUTSIDE! And some stay on the slices on their own but I try to have at least a slice on every piece. The best jerky recipe I’ve ever tried.
