Silence your quiver

Over the last few years I’ve tried a few different quivers, tightspot, nock on checkmate, and now the Hoyt 1 piece stretch, all have had strengths and weaknesses, but 1 common denominator for all of them has been a terrible vibration in the hood if you tap on your limbs with the palm of your hand or during the shot, I finally figured a simple solution for this Hoyt accessory, went to the local tire shop and got an old inner tube and cut it into 1 1/2” strips and wrapped it on the hood like you would the horn on a roping saddle, made all the difference in the world…The bow actually seems quieter with it on now.
Nice! You might be able to get the same results with the mini Limbsaver stick on dampers.
That's awesome that it worked for you. Did you use adhesive or just tie it on or something? Doesnt look like you "rubber banded" the whole tube around the quiver, but maybe you did?
Will, the piece was too long to be tight so 1 wrap a twist then wrapped again, I feel like alot of the dampening it associated with the compression that the stretched rubber offers ,no adhesive needed
Funny thought, but if the butts of your limbs don’t flex during the draw cycle, you could probably install a wrap-on quiver like the Stickbow guys use….
I once tried a rubber-hooded Selway and it was just way too heavy for me to put up with, but yesterday I strapped a 4-arrow EFA onto 2 of my longbows to see if I can make the switch, and not only was the quiver dead silent, the whole bow got quieter than ever. And quieting a longbow is no trivial thing…
And did I mention that they only weigh about 4 ounces??
Black self fusing silicone tape works well for this, lots of other uses too.
Nice idea!
A little trick I started doing several years ago is to make a loop out of peep sight tubing (that nobody uses anymore) and use it to help hold your arrows securely in the quiver. It helps keep them from vibrating and also helps prevent them from getting knocked out of the quiver while packing up the mountain or hiking into your stand.
Cheesehead-- somehow, someway the tube will break off of the quiver and smack you in the eye,, a variation of murphys law.
Ive used the Alpine SoftLoc quiver for over 20 years.
A couple years ago I tried the Tightspot but that thing rattled more than a jalopy.
Put the ol Softlok back on and still don’t have to add any anti-vibration thingys. 20+ years with the same one and still going strong
