Lighted nocks going dark on impact?

Shooting target butts, my Lumenocks stay lit, but of the three shots I've taken at game, they've gone dark on impact. Two hit and stayed in/killed the animal, one went into dirt/grass and was lost. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some secret you guys know that I don't?
I don’t even know how to turn them on/off, but are they larger than your shaft diameter so that they’re getting pulled on somehow as the nock passes through the hide/flesh?
The string should drive them into the shaft; impact should drive them into the shaft… and the only difference between hitting a target and hitting an animal is depth of penetration, which should slow the arrow faster on a target….
But if your tune is off, maybe your BH is causing a lot more upset to the shaft on impact with game…. And honestly, I don’t know how a deer can stop an arrow from a compound… a well-tuned arrow from a #35 longbow will sail clean through a deer, according to numerous reports (I have zero reason to test that myself), so by comparison, a #40 compound is a bazooka….
I'm shooting #65 and average weight arrows. Both hits have hit offside bone (first one was offside shoulder joint, second was sternum. All I can figure is the shock of hitting that bone made them backout. Bothe deer were recovered with the arrow in the deer. Would have been cool to have been able to find via an orange dot. I got lucky and my after-dark bloodtrailing skills were enough (probably thanks to doing the bloodtrail challenges here on the Bowsight. Pic of Friday night's deer. I turned the nock on for the photo after I found the buck.
I'm assuming you're shooting mechanical broad heads?
@Grey Ghost- No, shooting SlickTrick Magnums, 125 gr.
Not sure. I've always seen them staying on (though Nockturnals v lumenocks), for a long time. I'm thinking maybe it's a bad batch or something?
My guess is the hard impact is causing the switch to separate and turn off.

Hmm...that brisket hit should have been an easy pass-thru with your setup, IMO. How far was the shot?
I’ve had some that fit pretty loose and they pop off when hitting something hard. They seem very inconsistent to me so I just quit using them all.
Justin, I had the same issue with the batch of nocks I used 10-12 years ago. I think I needed .244" ones but had purchased .233's. I thought the were loose but I'm half dumbass so I didn't put 2 & 2 together. I haven't had any issues since loosing those first three.
I'm with Will though it must be a bad batch. I just don't know how that bag doesn't do the same has hitting the deer?
@Grey Ghost yes, it was a long shot, so I guess it lost some KE? I havn't taken too many long shots on game so I'm not familiar with the effect. The bone was messed up but the point didn't push through the offside skin. Meat clear into the shoulder was bruised and bloodshot, I'm guessing from the arrow tip scrambling as the deer ran.
So, you took a unfamiliar long shot, had poor shot placement, poor penetration and an admittedly lucky recovery. Perhaps your lighted nocks should be the least of your concerns? Not hating, just stating. Good luck.

Me too!!
Just curious. Why did you turn the nock on after the recovery? btw, have not had any turn off at impact.
I knew someone would play policeman, but I didn’t think it would be you GG.
I mean, GG isn’t wrong …. If you think he is than there’s another issue to add to his list
@Eric Sprick I turned it on so I could easily find the deer again, even a few steps away got strangely dark really fast, between no moon and extremely smokey conditions. Then I thought it looked cool so I took a picture. Hunting alone I forgot to get any pretty shots, so this one is about it.
Thanks for reminding me why I quit frequenting this place. Assuming the worst when you have nothing but the most surface glimpse of a circumstance is not the best personality trait, but in an arena as passionate as bow hunting, I know it’s pointless to ask individuals dedicated to the bettering of mankind via internet posts to work on being better. Thanks for the help, guys that were offering suggestions and asking questions in good faith rather than looking for a basis for accusation. You indeed do make this forum a worthwhile place to visit.
I think you need different lighted nocks. Sorry for my confusion.
My first thought, you need different lighted nocks, plenty of good options to choose from.
