You guys want to me make a thread this fall on another “let’s make a knife” but give some options on the knife model, handle, steel type and such and let you guys pick the options and blade to be made in a thread? If bowsite allows I will put that knife up for purchase when done. Let me know if want me to do another knife build thread this fall. Thank you Rob m

Absolutely, I'd like to see a Damascus skinner with an antler or horn scales. This is not what you normally do I know, but I'd still like to see you do one. If you go that route, I'd also like to see the stabilization process of scales if that's something you are equipped for.

Had this one made for me custom some years ago. Would like to see something like it with fancy scales. (This one is plain walnut.)

Absolutely do another knifr making thread. I’m a certified knife junkie without the knives. I can’t afford a custom knife but dang, they sure are good looking.

Rob, I always enjoy your knife-making threads.
This is one of my favorite sets of Randall knives. O1 tool steel, nickel silver hilt and butt caps, and stacked leather/stag/leather handles. I just love the combination of materials and hand-made craftsmanship in them.

The steels I will use for a hunting knife would be the following: 20cv (m390, 204p) Elmax, Magnacut or something of that variety of steels. I don’t use Damascus (pattern welded steel) as for a pure performance standpoint I see no advantage while in the field. Thanks GG. Randall was one of my inspirations when I started… them and Loveless

I am thinking a Swiss army style knife. Scissors, corkscrew, worthless sawblade, tweezers, toothpick, Phillips and flathead screwdriver, leather punch, can opener, two knife blades, and spork

Something with a handguard (bolster), so when being attacked by a grizzly or cougar and while you are stabbing, your hand don't slip and add more trouble to the situation...8^)
Hey, don't laugh, it could happen...

I really enjoy your knife builds and think the two you just posted would be perfect to see done. Som3 antler integrated would be my suggestion.

Rob, just for something different, how about a high end boning knife? 5-6 inch blade, semi-flexible, but a good steel that wont dull the first time it hits bone. With the right scales and sheath it would look sharp (pun intended).
From: Blood
04-Sep-24
I’m with some of the above. Would love to see a slim blade and handle like a boning knife. Lightweight but balanced perfectly.

I'm gonna say NO....If you use Stoneman's idea you are going to come up with another great design and I'm going to end up sending you more money!
Have you done something like a 6" boning knife? I'd be happy to beta test one for you...
Can't wait to see what you come up with buddy!!

i would suggest making a lightweight knife with a 3-4 inch blade, and less than 5 ounces overall.

I missed the boat last year on a beauty, but I have redeemed myself now. I’ll show it to y’all when it’s done if you promise not to be jealous.
Aw hell, I don’t care if you’re jealous, it will be worth it ! ;-))

A lightweight knife like Ron suggested would be nice, but I feel like you would be severely limited on creativity and beauty of scales by trying to go lightweight? I don’t know how I’ve missed these threads in the past, beautiful knives!

My grandmother gave me a knife she brought from Norway in 1970's. The point seemed to be a slight drop point and total blade length was around 4"-4.5". I'm not sure what type of steel they used, but it holds an edge like no other knife I've ever used. The steel tang looked to extend thru the handle. Over that was from antler / bone material on each end with some type of small leather material wrapped around in between the antler. I would love to see something like that.

I love the drop point. Make it red/white and left handed, maybe a Canadian will buy it.
